What is Fizz

Fizz is the dominant social platform for Gen-Z to connect with their immediate communities. Each Fizz community has a private and moderated feed of anonymous posts, authored by verified students at their school, providing the most entertaining, relatable, and interesting conversations about student life.

Students can post questions, memes, polls, and chat with other verified students while maintaining control over their identity and privacy. Fizz communities prioritize safety, authenticity, and inclusion through community-based moderation.

Founded by two Stanford dropouts, Fizz is currently expanding across colleges and high schools across the US with a mission to redefine the "social network" in a time when legacy platforms lack authenticity and are filled with curated highlight reels.

What we've done

We first launched Fizz at Stanford in July 2021 and have since seen >95% of undergraduates join the app, half of which use Fizz every day. We raised a 25M Series B in July 2023 and have established ourselves as the dominant community platform at 250+ colleges.

Where we're going

Our vision for Fizz is to develop the Fizz product to become the preferred community platform for Gen-Z, both while students are in college and beyond. Our team prioritizes ownership, swift adaptability, and rapid design iterations driven by real user feedback.

We are looking for candidates with at least 2 years of full-time software engineering or technical product management experience who are passionate about being an early employee and want to help drive our company forward.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the product roadmap for internal tools, including growth, community management, content management, trust & safety, and monetization tooling
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of internal tools. Work with ops teams to identify recurring issues, find interim solutions, prioritize fixes, and collaborate with engineering to deliver scalable solutions that improve efficiency and reduce operational pain points
  • Own internal analytics and reporting by creating dashboards, running SQL queries, and tracking performance metrics to empower teams with actionable insights. Ensure data accuracy and accessibility for operations, growth, and marketing teams
  • Identify the root cause of urgent bugs and collaborate with engineering to find solutions, while managing communications with growth and marketing teams dependent on these tools
  • Use Retool for rapid prototyping and building internal solutions, while defining long-term scalable systems with engineering

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of full-time experience in a software engineering or technical product management role, ideally with a focus on community management, content management, or trust & safety features
  • Proven track record of building products from 0 to 1 in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa
  • Ability to build product roadmaps and develop long-term strategy, while also being highly execution-oriented and solving daily operational challenges
  • Comfort balancing data-driven insights with intuition to form strong, opinionated beliefs about product direction
  • Strong grasp on the psychology of social products with an extreme passion to empathize with the needs of Gen-Z

Compensation for this role is between 120,000 - 180,000 per year, depending on job related skills and experience. At Fizz, full-time employees are eligible to receive company sponsored benefits and stock options.

This is an onsite role based out of our NYC office.
