AMGUARD Environmental Technologies (AMGUARD"), American Vanguard Corporation's specialty and professional solutions business unit is seeking an experienced sales professional for its OHP-branded ornamental, greenhouse, and Controlled Environmental Agriculture ("CEA") technical solutions provider. OHP is a recognized leader in bringing novel synthetic and biological technologies into these highly specialized markets.
The Technical Sales Manager position is responsible for the market development and sales of OHP products including fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and plant growth regulators in the Greenhouse, Nursery, and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) markets. The position is responsible for managing and growing sales by generating demand from end-user customers in their territory and working closely with our regional network of distribution partners.
OHP continually strives to evolve and grow their portfolio of value-added solutions through strategic partnerships, label expansions, improved formulations, and robust in-house R&D initiatives. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leverage commercial experience, technical knowledge, communication, and relationship skills to gain distributor support and end-user adoption of OHP products in target markets
- Build and maintain long-term end-user customer relationships
- Find and cultivate end-user prospects to grow OHP market share
- Be an effective cross-functional collaborator with Marketing and Technical teams
- Implement national OHP sales and marketing programs
- Develop and implement territory specific market initiatives
- Identify and develop emerging segments for the OHP portfolio in target markets
- Identify and communicate industry trends and competitive market influences
- Conduct product demonstration trials with end-users to increase market penetration
- Assist Technical Development team with in-field research, label expansion, and product development initiatives
- Provide technical product training for customers and market influencers
- Effectively manage and prioritize time and travel to have a positive impact on large multi-state territory
- Professionally interact with industry, media, market influencers, and technology partners in a professional manner
- Work in an engaged team environment
- Candidate will be based in their home office and must reside within the territory.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5+ years of experience marketing and/or selling insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, PGRs, and biologicals to ornamental, greenhouse, nursery, and CEA markets
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Strong sales ability and negotiation skills
- Proven track record of consistently meeting and / or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
- An entrepreneurial, agile, creative mindset that thrives in entrepreneurial and high-growth commercial environments
- Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills
- Business acumen and must be customer focused; distribution and channel sales preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Agronomic training or experience preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
- Strong Power Point, Excel, and Word skills
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
