The Technical Supervisor (Toxicology) is responsible for overseeing toxicology production and result certification for drugs of abuse, ensuring compliance with CLIA/CAP regulations and maintaining high-quality standards in a clinical laboratory. This role requires extensive experience in laboratory documentation, quality assurance, and regulatory adherence.Responsibilities

The Technical Supervisor (Toxicology) is responsible for overseeing toxicology production and result certification for drugs of abuse, ensuring compliance with CLIA/CAP regulations and maintaining high-quality standards in a clinical laboratory. This role requires extensive experience in laboratory documentation, quality assurance, and regulatory adherence.Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and supervision of the toxicology laboratory to ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Certify patient results to ensure accuracy and compliance with CLIA/CAP and regulatory standards.
- Oversee quality control programs, ensuring accuracy, precision, and adherence to quality assurance protocols.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for toxicology testing.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain LCMS instruments, including Agilent 6460 or similar.
- Support and collaborate directly with the Toxicology Supervisor and team to resolve technical issues and optimize laboratory workflows.
- Participate in method validation, verification, and performance specifications to ensure reliability and accuracy of toxicology testing.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety policies, standard operating procedures, and accreditation standards.
- Maintain proper documentation of laboratory operations, including quality control records, competency assessments, proficiency testing, and regulatory audits.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and answering questions from laboratory personnel, ensuring staff understand testing procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory documentation review.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in chemistry, biology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical toxicology.
- 2 years in a supervisory or technical oversight role is highly desired.
- Extensive CLIA/CAP experience, with knowledge of laboratory regulations and compliance requirements.
- Certifying Scientist experience required (must have experience certifying patient results).
- LCMS-specific experience required, including Agilent 6460 or similar.
- Experience with Beckman Coulter AU480/680 is highly desired.
- Experience in quality control, proficiency testing, and laboratory documentation.
- Method development experience is preferred, including optimizing testing processes and implementing new methodologies.
- Ability to teach, mentor, and support laboratory staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and technical understanding.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership experience is desired but not required.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and ensure regulatory compliance efficiently.
- Flexible schedule.
- Onsite in Draper, Utah (Relocation assistance available - variable).
