REPORTS TO: Principal
DEFINITION: Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students. Instructs and supervises students in the field of mass communications/video production and creates a safe and orderly learning environment. Position motivates students to develop an interest in and an appreciation for the mass communications field. Position develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students' interests and abilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times. Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
Plans and implements instructional programs that adhere to system-wide goals and priorities and meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students. Instructs secondary school students in all phases of video production to include scripting, recording, editing, audio, studio lighting, directing and computer graphics in accordance with the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
Instructs students in the use of AVID, Photoshop, After Effects and other video software.
Develops clear and concise instructional lesson plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of preparation, instruction, and on-air time.
Prepares and documents appropriate lesson plans, based upon adopted curricula, to teach instructional objectives.
Creates an instructional environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. Provides individual and small group instruction and adapts the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities.
Communicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents. Meets with students and parents.
Maintains complete and accurate student academic, attendance, and disciplinary records. Monitors and assesses students' academic progress.
Oversees the appropriate use and care of equipment, instructional materials, facilities, and equipment. Organizes storage areas and controls the use of materials and equipment to prevent loss, abuse, injury, or security breech. Makes minor adjustments to video production equipment and requests repairs as appropriate. Selects, requisitions, and maintains books, instructional materials, video production equipment, and instructional aids.
Collaborates with school administrators, other teachers, paraeducators, parents, and community members in the education of students. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Keeps abreast of developments, research, and new technology in the field of mass communications.
Leads students in the delivery of video morning announcements for the school.
Supervises, monitors and assist students in various after hour productions when applicable.
Attends staff meetings. Serves on various committees. Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in mass communication or related field. Experience in television broadcasting and/or video production, effective instructional delivery techniques, script writing, video production techniques and processes.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a Maryland Educator Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.
OR
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator License appropriate to the area of assignment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy. Knowledge of curriculum. Knowledge of effective instructional techniques. Knowledge of instructional materials and equipment.
Skill in instructing students. Skill in preparing and implementing lesson plans. Skill in communicating with students, their parents, administrators, and others. Technology competency. Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
Knowledge of script writing, video production techniques and processes.

GRADE: TABCO 10-month pay scale
SALARY: $60,000-$119,522
OTHER COMPENSATION: Position may be eligible for relocation bonus, extra duty activities pay or other student activities pay as defined in the applicable Bargaining
Unit Agreement.
