As part of our team, we are hiring a Strategic Initiatives Lead who will be responsible for leading key strategic initiatives across the Tech Talent teams, supporting functions in our Operations, Internal Upskilling and Reskilling, and Programs pillars across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supports the team responsible for all tech training offerings at the Tech Academy, including internal upskilling and reskilling for M&T talent and external talent in the larger ecosystem.
  • Supports the team responsible for the Tech Academy's operations, systems, and business functions.
  • Supports the team responsible for the Tech Academy's Talent Programs, including both traditional talent and community pipelines.
  • Leads critical routines across talent and has direct ownership over operationalizing the operating model across M&T Tech Talent.
  • Owns partnerships with M&T Tech's Data Academy and other key internal stakeholder partnerships across Cyber and Cloud initiatives.
  • Owns end to end Tech Talent data, reporting, and strategy execution.
  • Owns end to end all vendor partnerships, contracts, and compliance for the Tech Talent team.
  • Partners closely with M&T Bank's Talent acquisition team to develop and execute critical recruitment and hiring strategies as it relates to Experienced Hire initiatives.
  • Collaborates closely with Talent Programs Lead and Tech Talent Director on shared initiatives across the Tech Talent team that are critical to business success.
  • Create presentations that leverage quantitative and qualitative data for share-outs with critical internal and external stakeholders and leadership.
  • Leads retros and feedback sessions to assess outcomes and improvement plans for future iterations across team's direct scope of work.
  • Exude excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills that promote the M&T Tech brand.
  • Applies strong attention to detail and high-quality of work to enhance program impact and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Has direct ownership over budget for assigned projects, teams, and scope of work.
  • Works with a portfolio of Tech vendors to build partnerships, address program needs, gain a thorough understanding of functionality, in order to provide insights on implementation.
  • Potential for direct reports and people leadership in future state
  • Some travel within the Bank's footprint required.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience

Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Bachelors' degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration; Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree
  • Minimum of 6 years' relevant work experience
  • Banking/financial industry experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean or Process Improvement, or project management-related education
  • Experience with SQL, programming and statistical software
  • Experience with financial, regulatory and/or process analysis, and technical writing
  • Curious and innovative


M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
