Job Description
Job Title: X-Ray Technologist
Job Specialty: Diagnostic Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 1+ year of X-ray experience required
License: ARRT
Certifications: BLS (AHA)
Must-Have: Cannot accept local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility
Job Description:
- Accurately apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, performing a variety of technical procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic radiographs with minimal radiation exposure to the patient.
- Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, ensuring accurate application of ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
- Position patients and equipment appropriately to accurately demonstrate the area being examined, requiring extensive anatomical positioning skills.
- Provide appropriate radiation protection for patients and staff during radiation exposures according to prescribed safety standards.
- Adjust technical factors to provide appropriate exposure by using independent judgment, knowledge of human anatomy, the effect of disease on radiographs, and the principles of radiation, as well as the specific operation of all radiologic equipment within the department.
- Assist radiologists in performing sterile procedures, including biopsies and myelograms.
- Perform surgical and portable radiographic procedures as assigned.
- Conduct nursing procedures, including the preparation and administration of various forms of radiologic contrast media and medications, and catheterizations.
- Possess knowledge to readily identify and treat allergic reactions to contrast media.
- Practice sterile techniques.
- Maintain professional acumen through active association with professional organizations and show evidence of continuing education in radiography to remain current with the profession.
- Attend in-service educational programs and departmental meetings.
- Initiate requisitions, modify charges, and acknowledge exams, requiring the use of the computer.
- Recognize and report malfunction of radiographic equipment appropriately.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
