The Program

Notre Dame High School has a college preparatory curriculum that integrates classroom learning with downtown educational opportunities in culture, science, and technology. The school has a diverse student body, extensive honors and advanced placement programs, and a very talented and dedicated faculty and staff. Notre Dame educates more than 630 students annually for success and leadership in a global society.

The Learning Resource Specialist is a position that supports student learning in a college preparatory environment. The students who are served by the learning specialist may be students with diagnosed learning differences and classroom accommodations; students with learning gaps; and, students who are academically at risk. The focus of this work is holistic in order to best serve the needs of the students and support their success in our academic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides academic support to students who have a diagnosed learning difference, including initiating a support plan & facilitation of access to resources
  • Guides parents through the process of requesting testing and evaluation; evaluates the assessment reports; and, monitors the expiration dates of evaluations on record
  • Provides classroom teachers with information and resources for working with students with learning accommodations; provides detailed strategies for specific students faculty are working with in their classes
  • Acts as the Services for Students with Disabilities Coordinator for all standardized testing, including contacting and submitting all documentation to the College Board and ACT for approved accommodations


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters in Special Education, or similar

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in K-12 education
  • Bilingual
