Job Description:
The Department of Management at the Kogod School of Business in American University invites applications for an open-rank, non-tenure track faculty position starting in August 2025. All application materials are to be submitted electronically through Workday.
Qualifications. We welcome applications from scholarly and other professional backgrounds in line with the position needs. Preferred candidates will have (1) Ph.D., MBA, JD, or related graduate or terminal degree from a nationally-accredited institution in Business Management or other relevant fields; (2) university-level teaching experience in management or related areas with a strong commitment to high-quality pedagogy, including currency in teaching content, methods, and instructional technology; (3) curricular and program development experience; 4) demonstrated collegiality, good citizenship, professional background and commitment to serve the school.
Responsibilities. Candidates are expected to teach and provide instructional leadership at the undergraduate and graduate levels in topics related to organizational behavior, human resource management, sports business, and international business. They are expected to be familiar with the scholarly basis of pedagogy and the content of the teaching areas. Expertise in additional Management areas such as strategy, business ethics, or sustainability would also be appreciated. They are also expected to participate in department, school, university and professional activities.
Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Professorial Lecturer for one year and renewable subject to satisfactory review/performance and budgetary approval. Ranked renewable term faculty are eligible to be considered for promotion subject to the appropriate qualification and promotion requirements. The standard teaching load for term faculty is six courses per year. In compliance with DC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000.
The committee will accept applications until the position is filled. The review process will begin immediately. Initial interviews are to be conducted over ZOOM on a rolling basis until a suitable candidate is found.
