Position Overview:
AERMOR is seeking a Test and Evaluation Analyst to provide support for the Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR). The selected candidate will assist in planning, conducting, and analyzing operational tests for naval combat systems, with particular focus on ship self-defense capabilities. This position involves evaluating the operational effectiveness and suitability of combat systems deployed on US Navy vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute operational test and evaluation activities for ship combat systems in accordance with Department of Defense and Navy test and evaluation directives.
- Develop comprehensive test plans that address specifications and requirements for various combat systems.
- Coordinate with program managers, resource sponsors, and technical stakeholders to ensure proper test planning and execution.
- Assess system performance in operational environments against various threat scenarios.
- Perform developmental, interoperability, and operational testing while managing test data collection and analysis.
- Conduct data collection/extraction and perform detailed analysis of test results.
- Provide liaison support between technical teams and operational fleet units.
- Document and report test findings, recommendations, and system performance outcomes.
- Monitor technical authority compliance during planning and execution of system testing.
- Participate in at-sea testing aboard US Navy ships as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field is desirable but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in one or more of the following:
- Naval combat systems operation or maintenance.
- Test and evaluation activities.
- Systems analysis or engineering.
- Military operations involving combat systems.
- Ability to analyze complex technical data and prepare coherent reports.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel for data analysis.
- Basic understanding of naval combat systems architecture.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous military experience, particularly in naval operations or combat systems.
- Experience with test planning, execution, or analysis.
- Familiarity with ship self-defense systems, sensors, or weapons systems.
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes.
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
- Project management skills.
Key Technical Knowledge Areas:
- Understanding of naval combat systems or systems engineering and their integration with shipboard systems.
- Knowledge of threat capabilities and countermeasures.
- Familiarity with DoD/DON policies and procedures related to test and evaluation.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and operational needs.
- Understanding of operational test methodology for evaluating system performance.
Work Environment:
- Primary work location at Naval facilities in Norfolk with occasional travel to test sites.
- May require periodic at-sea travel aboard US Navy ships for test and evaluation activities.
- Regular interaction with military personnel, government civilians, and contractors.
- Standard working hours with potential for extended hours during critical test periods or deadlines.
