Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Test Engineer to design and implement the tests conducted on customer products by creating the technical road map that satisfies the customer requirements. Test Engineers work closely with Test Technicians and customers and act as the technical guide as the program moves through each phase.

Responsibilities

-Leads engineering efforts related to complex aerospace product qualification test programs
-Designs and implements functional test rigs and systems that support safe, accurate, and efficient test execution often requiring 2D schematics, 3D models, and drawings for fabrication using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
-Provides regular technical and schedule adherence updates to customer liaisons and Department Manager
-Understands and controls all technical aspects of the test programs
-Utilizes sensors, module based software (e.g. DASYLab), and control theory to develop complete data acquisition and control systems
-Maintains in-depth knowledge of test standards, product test procedures, and instrumentation
-Works closely with Test Technicians to observe and record test setup, progression, and results. Organizes and documents data for each assigned project in the project's test log
-Interacts with customers during the testing process, periodically assists with troubleshooting and development and schedule modifications
-Researches and orders equipment based on immediate needs while maintaining facility standards
-Conducts commissioning and/or testing of systems, especially for large, complex, or unique programs
-Leads troubleshooting efforts required during commissioning phase of test program
-Utilizes facility resources including fuel, liquid and gaseous nitrogen, propane, compressed air, and cooling water
-Produces high quality written test reports that detail test processes and results to meet client expectations, applicable standards, and are appropriate for their intended audience. This includes selecting photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to be included in publications
-Applies the principals of 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) in the performance of daily work responsibilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe work area
-Abides by and ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE), Trade Compliance, and Quality practices, policies, and regulations
-Maintains customer confidentiality at all times

Skills / Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering from a four year college or university plus two (2) to four (4) years of non-test related engineering experience or one (1) year of experience in a test environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Self-disciplined and self-motivated
-Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
-Ability to maintain professional candor at all times and remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
-Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs. Strong and effective interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
-Ability to interface with customers to determine their needs and provide a satisfactory outcome
-Experience working with Quality Management Systems (i.e. ISO 17025 and ITAR Regulations) and Trade Compliance Regulations (i.e. ITAR or EAR) is desired but not required
-Proven ability to create and maintain strong professional relationships built on trust
Ability to interpret and adhere to the requirements of customer specifications
Independent thought and problem solving abilities including mechanical creativity and resourcefulness
-Ambition to be productive individually and as part of a team
Exhibit professional sense of organization, cleanliness, and presentation
