Overview:
Sentara Brock Cancer Center is currently hiring a Thoracic Oncology Nurse Navigator. This is a Full-Time position with great benefits! The position is in Norfolk, VA, and is responsible for managing care for patients in the Hampton Roads and Northeastern NC area.
Our center is a state-of-the-art facility opened in June 2020 and is the regional hub of the Sentara Cancer Network which coordinates highly skilled physicians, specialists and researchers as they work to better understand cancer, detect it earlier, and treat it more effectively. Our center is a true collaboration of oncology clinical experts between Sentara Medical Group, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Virginia Oncology Associates and other community organizations to deliver a healing environment for patients at every state of their journey, from initial diagnosis through long-term, healthy survivorship.
We are completing a $15M Beyond Cancer philanthropic campaign, and our Center continues to add new services and team members to meet our mission to provide stellar care to our community that we serve.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$76,731.20-$127,878.40Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Overview
In this role you will:
- Support oncology patients by providing patient and family education regarding findings, diagnosis, workup, lifestyle recommendations, and treatment plans.
- Assess psychosocial needs and assist with barrier resolution.
- Have responsibility for approximately 250 patients.
- Improve patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, provider satisfaction, reduce length of stay, reduce Emergency Room visits and readmissions, and quaternary growth.
- Some flexibility with work hours. The department is open from 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Education
- RN - Associate's Degree
- RN - Bachelor's Degree
- RN - Diploma
- RN - Master's Level Degree
Certification/Licensure
- Multistate compact or Virginia RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing.
- OCN (Certified Oncology Nurse) or CBCN (Certified Breast Cancer Nurse) required within one (1) year of hire.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
Experience
- Three (3) years of clinical RN (Registered Nurse) experience required.
