Tool and Die Manager

Effectively supervise and direct daily operations of tool making functions such as, but not limited to, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauging that support production operations.

Position includes but not limited to:
  • Oversee toolmakers and machinists on all three shifts, to ensure customer requirements are met by supportive tool making/tool repair operations. Maintain a prioritization list for the CNC mills and wire EDM machines.
  • Counsel team members on all three shifts about work-related issues and assist employees to correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Assist with personnel development on all three shifts to advance skills and abilities.
  • Coordinate project priorities and die repair work with production supervisors, engineering, and production control personnel.
  • Coordinate all purchases related to work order requests and supplies.
  • Identify and help implement new methods to improve overall efficiency and performance in the department.
  • Lead daily team meetings on all three shifts regarding Tool & Die department project status.
  • Prepare tooling estimates for internal and external projects. Details to include projected hours and purchased item expenses.

General Work Requirements:
  • Strong ability to effectively lead people and achieve results through the team.
  • Working knowledge of all Tool & Die department machine tools and manufacturing technology is required.
  • Must have strong communication, analytical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to successfully communicate and interact with employees at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and requires minimal direction.
  • Ability to follow through with all open issues until the root cause has been determined, investigated, and eliminated.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a Tool & Die Department.
  • High School Diploma; Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field will be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Move at a moderate to fast pace across specified terrain for extended periods of time. Adjust body position while performing tasks.
  • Must be able to work safely and move at a moderate to fast pace across specified terrain for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a routine, daily basis.
  • Manipulate medium to large objects, materials or tools on a routine basis.
