Conveniently located near the south shores of Lake Michigan and just 26 miles south of Chicago, the distinctive community of Munster offers outstanding accessibility and all the advantages of life in the big town.
Munster is seeking a Town Manager to be responsible for duties such as hiring of personnel, administration of Munster's bidding process, and overseeing the town's various departments including Operations (Public Works) and Planning and Community Development. Police and Fire report to the Board of Safety, and Parks and Recreation report to the Park Board.

Leadership Opportunities
Relationships - Establish trust and credibility with the Town Council, staff, and community by actively listening, communicating effectively, and managing expectations. The Town Manager should prioritize transparency and open dialogue to foster a positive and collaborative environment.
Economic Development - Lead efforts to promote revitalization around the two new train stations currently under construction. Serve as a liaison between developers and other stakeholders and the Town Council, collaborating to create a shared vision for redevelopment and economic growth.
Ridge Road Project - Work close with the Town Council and serve as a liaison with Federal Highway Administration to oversee a major infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing traffic flow, safety, and accessibility along Ridge Road. This project, supported by a $17 million grant can transform the main thoroughfare in Town.
Community Engagement - Enhance public outreach and communication strategies to ensure transparency, build trust, and foster a strong sense of community. Develop initiatives that encourage public participation and keep residents informed about town projects and developments.
Long-Term Road Improvement Plan - Assist in the creation of a comprehensive long-term plan for road improvements. This plan should include project timelines, cost estimates, and strategies to address future infrastructure needs, ensuring the town's roads are well-maintained.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $145,000 - $160,000. In addition, the Town of Munster provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes: medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, funeral leave, injury leave, two PTO days for all FTEs in place on January 1, longevity pay, employee assistance program, Indiana Public Retirement System or Town contribution to a deferred compensation plan, park discounts including pool and golf memberships, programs, and trips, voluntary ancillary benefits, tuition reimbursement and professional development. A take-home vehicle is available; residency is required within three years and relocation assistance is available.
Desired Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field with extensive experience as a municipal manager, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position requires the applicant to be bondable.
