Job Description
OTHON, Inc., is currently seeking a Traffic Design Engineer. We are looking for a self-motivated, aggressively enterprising individual wanting to expand their career opportunities within a growing consulting engineering firm. The qualified applicant will be a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
Responsibilities
This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team towards a common goal in serving our clients. This position may include providing engineering services for the following primary areas of design:

Job Description
OTHON, Inc., is currently seeking a Traffic Design Engineer. We are looking for a self-motivated, aggressively enterprising individual wanting to expand their career opportunities within a growing consulting engineering firm. The qualified applicant will be a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
Responsibilities
- Provide detailed design and calculations in support of signed and sealed plan sheets
- Provide preliminary layouts, specifications, quantities and final plan sheets
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers
- Supervises Junior Engineers, EITs, and CAD technicians
- Coordinates and works closely with all project disciplines
- Manages project design schedules, budgets, and scope
- Responsible for project quality control
- Coordinates with the client and is responsible for meeting client schedules and budgets.
This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team towards a common goal in serving our clients. This position may include providing engineering services for the following primary areas of design:
- Traffic signals
- Illumination
- ITS
Secondary areas:
- Signing
- Pavement Markings
- Intersection Improvements
- Traffic operational analysis studies.
Minimum Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university
- 5+ years of experience of designing transportation projects in the Civil Engineering field
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MicroStation/Open Roads and Geopak
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Able to lead and manage junior staff.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Open Roads Designer (ORD)
- Precertification in TxDOT work categories.
