Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is currently seeking a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Engineer in Training with experience in the maintenance of traffic for large highway projects and understands construction phasing and work sequencing. Candidate will prepare MOT plans, coordinate with engineering and construction staff, and provide technical leadership, oversight and interdisciplinary coordination on complex highway design build projects.

Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Location
This position is based out of our Burnaby office.
Responsibilities
Coordinate with project team to understand design limits and constraints
Analyze transportation data and conduct traffic and transit analyses and studies
Develop MOT design production on pursuit and final design projects
Preparation of technical memos and reports to communicate technical results and recommendations, site plan reviews and design modifications
Participate in the design of signage plans (urban, highway, rural)
Participate in the design of pavement marking plans
Participate in the design of bicycle facilities (pavement marking, geometry, safety features)
Participate in the design of geometric layouts, including simulations of turning maneuvers
Conducting field studies (site visits, inventories, transit, traffic, and parking counts)
Review project scope and contracts to assure plans meet project requirements in regards of traffic
Coordinate with project estimating and scheduling staff to develop and optimize phases that meets traffic constraints and works constraints
Strong focus on innovation and ability to envision, develop and evaluate multiple phasing options
Other duties as assigned/required
Qualifications
2+ years of development of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans
Bachelor's degree or greater in Civil Engineering
Must be registered EIT
Design build experience, a plus
Experience or knowledge of the MUTCD, Roadside Design Guide and construction traffic control design
Experience or knowledge of basic roadway, pedestrian and bikeway design
Experience in security audit, a plus
Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead
Knowledge of design software including Synchro, MicroStation and AutoCAD
Beneficial knowledge of HCS, CCG, VISSIM, EMME, and Aimsun
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing in French and English
Work will primarily be performed in the Laval office, but must be able to travel to project sites and attend meetings across North America as needed by the project

Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Base Compensation: $90,000/yr - $100,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
