Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals-manganese and zinc-as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation's clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

The Role
The Trainer, Mine Ops is responsible for the effective implementation of the training programs designed to equip our operational teams with the knowledge and skills required for the safe and competent execution of their roles.
The role is responsible for fostering a unified safety culture and developing employee capabilities and competencies to support the delivery of our safety guarantee.
The role will also ensure that our employees have a positive learning experience that leads to measurable learning outcomes.
The role will ensure that all operational training is developed and deployed in alignment with the Hermosa Training Scheme.

The role will ensure that all operational training is developed and deployed in alignment with the Hermosa Training Scheme.
Accountabilities
- Contribute subject matter expertise to training content development to ensure safety standards, site requirements, industry guidelines are accurately and completed reflected.
- Lead the drafting, review, and revision of SOPs, work instructions and other documents, and ensure their integration into training programs.
- Facilitate all training components - classroom, on-the-job, demonstrations and practice, job shadowing, competency assessments - to ensure training is delivered as designed and per specification.
- Lead the team onboarding process (post-HR handoff) by developing schedules, coordinating all onboarding components and facilitating job specific training.
- Ensure mine operations training aligns with the Hermosa Training Scheme by participating in training needs assessments, content reviews, and executing trainer accountabilities as specified in the training development and implementation process.
- Conduct field engagements to stay current with field practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Administer the learning management system for mine ops employees, including maintaining training calendars, testing new courses, ensuring training compliance, and keeping accurate and complete training records.
- Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experiences
- Trainer certifications from industry preferred
- 10+ years of mining experience
- 3+ years of training or coaching experience
- 5+ years of underground mining experience preferred
- Experience working in projects requiring problem solving, attention to detail, strong follow-through, efficient time management, or cross-functional collaboration and teamwork
- Mining equipment maintenance/operation skills
- Proficiency with multimedia or web-based applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management
- Strong presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions
- Strong time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs
- Ability to build effective relationships built on trust, respect, and collaboration
