PAY RANGE:
Engineering Tech I: $59,100 - $73,900
Engineering Tech II: $72,400 - $90,500
Sr Engineering Tech: $81,800 - $109,100
Lead Engineering Tech: $96,300 - $128,400

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., flexible work arrangements upon manager approval which generally include up to two days working from home.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position provides direct technical assistance and support to the Transmission Line Engineering department.
Under the direction of the Transmission Line Engineering department leadership and Transmission Engineer staff, this position will:
Assist with various stages of transmission line projects
Coordinate project LIDAR and land-based survey work, soil borings, and underground utility potholing
Assist with drafting construction documentation using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office applications, and Bluebeam
Use PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole software to assist with design of transmission lines
Review external customer requests for encroachment into transmission line easements
Meet with customers and developers to discuss restrictions within transmission line easements and near transmission line facilities
Review external construction plans including private, city, state, and federal projects affecting transmission line facilities
Review and provide coordination of proposed distribution and foreign utility attachments to transmission facilities and crossings through transmission easements
Assist with customer requested EMF readings associated with transmission lines
Perform on-site transmission line verification of existing engineering documentation
Support the as-built documentation process after the construction of transmission line projects
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have an Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field. Experience may substitute for a portion of the education requirement. Prefer three or more years of experience in Autodesk products, Power Line Systems software (e.g., PLS-CADD), transmission line design and document management.
Engineering Tech I - Entry level, limited or no work experience required
Engineering Tech II - Typically possesses 5 or more years of engineering technology experience
Sr. Engineering Tech - Typically possesses 10 or more years of engineering technology experience
Lead Engineering Tech - Typically possesses 15 plus years of engineering technology experience and recognized expert in specific areas of engineering support tasks
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Prefer basic knowledge of electric power systems, including distribution, substation and transmission, construction activities and surveying. Excellent customer service and public relations skills required. The position will require work in unrelated processes and methods and requires constructive thinking to analyze, interpret, or evaluate issues to a prompt resolution and work within a short time frame.
Necessary skills include math, planning, organizing, prioritizing and team building. The successful candidate must be personal computer fluent with a high proficiency in MS office applications. Experience with Power Line Systems PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software preferred. Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills to accomplish coordination between internal departments and external engineering consultant firms and customers. Applicant must be a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in an ever-changing environment. Must have the ability to handle stressful situations appropriately. Must be effective at managing workload.
Licenses, Certification, Bonding, and/or Testing:
A valid driver's license is required.
Working Conditions:
Conditions will vary from office, substation, and power plant and transmission line field environments. Must be able to work additional hours on short notice in office and field settings through normal and severe weather conditions. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
