Position Summary

Position Summary:
Responsible for coordination of the evaluation and preparation of patients for organ transplantation and long-term management of patients after transplant. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient care across multiple areas; transplant office, the outpatient clinic, the inpatient nursing unit and the community, in order to provide continuity of patient care across settings.
Job Requirement
Education/Experience:
Graduation from and accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, one (1) year of which is in transplant services.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid License by State of Nevada to Practice as a Registered Nurse. Some positions may require Certification in a Specialty Area and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS - accepted by the American Red Cross); Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:
Performance improvement principles and methods; specific area of clinical nursing or program focus; Joint Commission, UNOS guidelines; State and Federal standards; community agencies with interests in relevant services; Nurse Practice Act; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage and use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
