Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have four years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a Professional Engineer.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.

Working Conditions

Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise for project teams through all stages of drainage design
- Interpret, write and recommend reports, correspondence and technical papers for drainage design compliance
- Coordinate with other state, federal and local agencies
- Provide review of drainage design software for implementation into the drainage design development
- Ability to communicate well with others both through oral and written communications
- Ability to organize work activities for all projects
- Knowledge of computer software required to perform job tasks (Excel, Word, MS CONNECT, ORD, etc)
- Knowledge of Hydrologic and Hydraulic Software to perform drainage reviews (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, etc)
