The Transportation Manager is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership for all fleet logistics, which includes oversight of asset management, compliance, and dispatch. This role is to develop and implement cost-effective asset management that will maximize performance within a commercially competitive environment. Day-to-day management of staff is also a critical function of this role, as all drivers and dispatch report directly to this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

EXPEREINCE
5+ years' experience in a leadership role
3+ years' experience in transportation or the oil and gas industry
EDUCATION
Post-Secondary Degree in Business Management preferred
High School Diploma required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with the overall vision and direction of the transport operations.
- Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations and ensuring a culture of safety.
- Manage people functions including staffing, hiring, performance, training and development of drivers, Dispatchers and future leaders.
- Foster a culture that values accountability and excellent customer service through both effective coaching and leading by example.
- Liaise with customers, sales and internal teams as required on service issues, opportunities and complaints in a professional manner.
- Assist with administration and facility management.
- Contractor responsibility, including scheduling, compliance, orientations, safety, and supervision.
- Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve company performance.
- Meet regularly with department heads/management; facilitate resolution of issues/problems between branches and/or departments.
- Analyze and report on the daily, monthly, and annual department's key performance indicators and industry trends.
- Review and use the monthly Profit and Loss statements to ensure expense control and proactively plan fleet utilization.
- Ensure all Drivers and Equipment stay in compliance with the National Safety Code as well as Alberta, BC, Sask., and Yukon Transportation Departments.
- Other related duties as required or assigned.
OTHER KEY SKILLS (or product knowledge)
- Experience working with major fuel/Transportation providers considered an asset
- Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail required
- Management and/or supervisory experience
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
