Description:
Provide inpatient and outpatient therapy services.
Traveler may choose desired setting.
Unit specifics include an 8 bed ICU unit and an approximately 12 bed Med Surg unit.
Occasional referrals from a behavioral health unit with 16 beds.
Patient ratios are as follows: In acute care setting, PT and PTA manage 10-12 patients per day.
In outpatient setting, manage 8-10 patients per day with one-on-one scheduling and no double booking.
Typical treatment lasts 45-60 minutes.
Unit staffing includes 2 full-time office support staff and rehab tech support shared between acute care and outpatient based on daily needs.
A full-time PTA is available for the acute care setting.
In the outpatient setting, 2 full-time PTAs and 1 PRN PTA are scheduled.
An additional PT will also be on schedule for either acute care or outpatient services.
Equipment available in the outpatient setting includes treadmill, parallel bars, Game Ready, NUSTEP, upper/lower body bike, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, cupping, dry needling.
The documentation system for acute care is Meditech, while outpatient uses Redoc.
Floating policy is in effect, requiring flexibility.
Typical physical therapy assessments are performed to advance patients to the next level of care, be it outpatient, home health, or skilled nursing facility.
Outpatient therapy is assessed to help patients return to their prior level of care.
Services are provided in an adult setting, with exceptions for sports injuries or orthopedic patients.
Experience in wound care is not required but is beneficial, as opportunities for learning various wound care procedures are available.
Additional collaboration with occupational therapy allows for close work with oncology patients and those with lymphedema.
The unit promotes a family-like culture, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration with nursing staff.
Long tenured staff enhance the experience within the workplace.
