Summary: The Trust Officer supports business objectives for the Wealth Management department through administration of trust accounts and provides support to trust officers and staff in managing client relationships and accounts in accordance with the terms of the governing instrument and state and federal laws.

Key areas of responsibility:

Administrative:
  • Administer trust accounts, including account setup and maintenance.
  • Prepare and review trust documentation, reports, account review, and correspondence for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide back-up and cross-team support for all functions within the Wealth Management division.
  • Assist Trust and Wealth Management departments in implementation of departmental marketing strategies, including assisting with seminars and presentations to bank employees, individuals, corporations, and other prospective clients.
  • Respond positively and efficiently to other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.

Fiduciary:
  • Collaborate with internal and external contacts to ensure all trust account activity (deposits, distributions, wire transfers, DDA transfers, and receipts) is processed accurately and timely in accordance with the terms of the governing document, applicable policies, and Trust laws and regulations.
  • Review and interpret governing instruments and documents to determine terms, responsibilities, and duties of the corporate trustee under the supervision of senior Trust staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of new products and services as well as changes to laws and regulations governing the administration of trust, estate, and other fiduciary accounts.

Customer service:
  • Provide exceptional customer service while responding to calls, emails, and in-person inquiries for prospective and existing principals, beneficiaries, and other related parties.
  • Assist the Trust department and clients with problem resolution and account maintenance regarding account performance, tax and estate planning, and personal financial goals.

Key competencies:

The ideal candidate for the Trust Officer possesses a combination of education and experience to be able to perform the primary duties of this position with little supervision, managing multiple projects simultaneously. They adapt easily to system, process, product, and service changes, and are able to reason, solve problems and think critically. They must demonstrate a high level of integrity, personal diplomacy, and respect. Must be able and willing to abide by all Company policies, procedures, and Trust laws and regulations. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the administration of trust, estate, and other fiduciary accounts is a plus but isn't required. Some background (education or experience) in the finance industry is preferred.
