Responsibilities

This position directs the University Business Administrators (UBA) program at the University Libraries and Innovation Hub (IHUB), which includes purchasing, travel, finance & reporting services, accounts payable & disbursement services, accounting & property services, student business services, and departmental human resources administration.
  • Responsible for monitoring the financial position of the site, developing management reports, and participating in projects designed to expand or enhance the financial, departmental human resources, or operational systems to meet their needs.
  • Develops management reports and serves as the Budget Account Manager approving all financial transactions. Compiles and reports on financial data requested by the State, the University Controller & Budget offices, and Library specific organizations.
  • Provides financial advice and counsel to University Libraries administrators and assists with implementing university financial, human resources, business, and administration policies and procedures.
  • Provides leadership and direction of policy development by reviewing, analyzing, developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures essential for the sound and effective management of the site operations. Interprets and communicates policies to UBA staff and other University Libraries' representatives.
  • Serves as liaison between the University Libraries and other university areas, including Budget, Procurement, Controller, Foundation, and Human Resources offices.
  • Direct site staff in routine duties necessary to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and other related business functions. Coordinates and manages the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of all assigned UBA staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to an administrative service or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience compiling, reviewing, and editing financial information for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Ability to train and supervise employees.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, policies, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and preparation of financial reports.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of fiscal control systems.
  • Basic knowledge and understand of University, Federal, and State policies.
