Job Description
Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist
Job Specialty: General Abdominal, OB/GYN, and Vascular
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift, 8 AM-5 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40
Experience: Minimum of 2 years
License: N/A
Certifications: RVT registration preferred, RDMS (AB, OB-GYN) preferred, BLS required
Must-Have: Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment
Job Description:
- Perform high-quality general ultrasound including abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular studies following all policies and procedures.
- Set up and assist radiologist competently.
- Work with electronic medical records to generate and complete exam orders.
- Record and analyze quality control data to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning the work area, and monitoring temperatures according to regulatory agencies and hospital policies.
- Ensure regular attendance, including clocking in and out at scheduled times with minimal unplanned absenteeism.
- Maintain clinical competency and current professional knowledge through in-house education, completion of competencies, and new protocol and equipment training.
- Contact service personnel and notify supervisors of malfunctioning equipment.
- Transport patients and handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Possess knowledge of PACS systems for releasing and transmitting images.
- Inform appropriate personnel of department supply needs to ensure uninterrupted testing.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient and staff experiences.
- Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies.
- Display and promote company values.
- Demonstrates strong ability to learn and apply new approaches.
- Maintain professional technical knowledge.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
- Stand an average of 7-8 hours per workday.
- Walk an average of 6-7 hours per workday.
- Bend/Stoop frequently (20-30 times/day).
- Squat several times (20-30 times/day).
- Reach above shoulder level frequently (20-30 times/day).
- Lift up to 50 lbs of weight as needed and manage awkward weight lifts of up to 100 lbs as necessary.
- Engage in fine dexterity tasks constantly (greater than 25 times/hour).
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain safe and effective patient care.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.
- Use active listening skills to interpret the needs of the patient.
- Mentor, train, motivate, direct, and empower the team.
