Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist
Job Specialty: Ultrasound
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.)
Guaranteed Hours: 12 per week
Experience: Minimum years not specified
License: ARDMS or ARRT (S) required
Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) required
Must-Have: Proficiency in ultrasound equipment and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Job Description:
- Prioritize and coordinate ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians.
- Perform ultrasound exams according to departmental protocols and standards.
- Provide adequate patient care in relation to the requested exams.
- Assist Radiologist in performing invasive procedures.
- Evaluate the technical quality of exams and develop varied techniques for improved efficiency within the department.
- Support and contribute to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy, recognizing every staff member is a caregiver with a role to meet patient needs.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
- Operate the Radiology computer system, including entering and charging exams and supplies.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area, ensuring it is fully stocked.
- Adhere to departmental rules and regulations, maintaining professionalism at all times.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance.
- Involves walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting during normal operations.
- Requires mental skills for reading and comprehending patient orders and technical materials.
- Motor coordination to operate heavy and delicate equipment.
- Intact sense of sight and hearing essential.
Education:
- Graduate of a comprehensive Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound program required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Sonography also accepted.
Languages:
- English: Read, Write, Speak.
