Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. We are also advancing permitting on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada.

More recently, we've entered into an agreement with Newmont Corporation to acquire the Musselwhite Mine, located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan. This project has great potential in a tier-one mining jurisdiction, and with more than 25 years of proven track record. This fly-in, fly-out operation will position Orla to double its annual gold production and provide us with excellent future opportunities. We expect this transaction to close in Q1 2025.

Purpose

As part of our acquisition of the Musselwhite Mine, we are recruiting for an Underground Superintendent. This role will be based on- site and will be responsible for leading and coordinating safe, efficient, and cost-effective exploration programs-from target generation through execution of drill programs and real-time interpretation of results, to budget oversight. This role will report to the Mine Manager and will be key to the success of the Mine Department.

Responsibilities include:
Ensure the underground mine operates according to company, federal, provincial and municipal standards
Develop and meet overall safety, production, and cost targets
Liaise with cross-functional teams in setting the direction and establishing the short to mid-term mine plans
Optimize operational assets and resources through continuous improvement
Initiate, develop and implement mine operations procedures
Responsible for developing, monitoring and improving the safety performance of all employees
Support and maintain value-based Safety Management System that enables a continuous process of identifying and managing hazards/risks, monitoring compliance and engaging employees all-inclusive of the Fatality Risk Management Program
Ensure JHSEC (Joint Health, Safety & Environment Committee) and employee safety concerns are dealt with in a timely manner
Ensure employees have the tools and systems in place to perform work safely and efficiently
Ensure employees are developed to reach their full potential and meet organizational goals
Implement succession plans for key employees
Promote the principle of ownership, accountability, and mutual respect to the workforce and supervision
Keep employees informed of issues that affect them, ensuring two-way communication
Manage key items in all of Newmont's management systems such as but not limited to Fatality Risk Management, Enablon, and SAP
Promote and adhere to Newmont's Environmental, Sustainability, and Human Resources policies
Develop and adhere to budgets
Directly supervise the Mine Coordinators

Skills and Experience:
Degree in Mining Engineering preferred extra underground experience can compensate
Qualifications and certifications in Common Core and Safety
Minimum 8-12 years of underground mining experience, 5 of which at a supervisory level
Exemplary knowledge of underground mining methods, blasting, ventilation, and mine services
Strong understanding of Mining Act and legislation
Demonstrated leadership competencies with strong communication skills
Strong business acumen and proficient computer literacy
Ability to influence and inspire others, and manage cross-functional relationships

Working Conditions
The schedule is 14x14, working 12-hour day and night shifts.
