Purpose of Role
Responsible for designing and optimizing the user experience for our customer-facing portal. Collaborates closely with the product, engineering, legal, and content teams to enhance usability, increase engagement, and create frictionless digital experiences that empower borrowers. Plays a critical role in improving self-service capabilities, streamlining key user journeys, and ensuring a seamless, accessible design for a diverse audience. Works to help borrowers confidently explore financial options and complete necessary actions with ease.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is ($85,300 - $142,100 ) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer. We offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time-off benefits, flexible spending account, 401(k) with employer match, and ESPP.

Expectations
- Drives the feature-level end-to-end design process, from user research and initial concept ideation to high-fidelity UI and final implementation.
- Designs intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that improve key metrics such as engagement, self-service adoption, and task completion rates.
- Partners with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, legal, and content, to execute user-centric solutions aligned with business goals.
- Conducts user research, usability testing, and behavioral analysis to inform design decisions and iterate on the experience.
- Optimizes key workflows and interactions to reduce friction and enhance borrower satisfaction.
- Utilizes data and qualitative insights to continuously refine and improve user journeys.
- Maintains and contributes to Symphony, our design system, ensuring consistency across the borrower portal experience.
- Participates in weekly design critiques, sharing feedback and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Advocates for accessibility (WCAG compliance) and inclusivity, ensuring all users can effectively interact with the portal.
- Stays updated on industry trends, competitor experiences, and best practices to drive innovation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 4 years of UX design experience, with a focus on customer portals, web applications, or fintech experiences. Background or experience in the financial technology (fintech) industry preferred.
- A passion for solving complex user challenges and delivering seamless self-service experiences.
- Strong understanding of interaction design, usability principles, and accessibility best practices.
- Data-informed approach to design, with KPIs focused on improving engagement and task completion rates.
- Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent tools) for wireframing, prototyping, and UI design.
- Experience with responsive design and mobile-first UX principles.
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, legal, and content to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Strong communication skills to advocate for user needs and present design decisions effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making informed design decisions with evolving information.
- Knowledge of design systems and the ability to maintain and contribute to evolving them, when appropriate.
- Portfolio showcasing shipped work, your design process, problem-solving skills, and impact on business goals.
