The UX Research Ops Program Manager for Design Quality will be part of the Devices & Services Design Group's (DDG) Design Strategy, Systems & Operations organization. This role will report into our Sr. Manager of Design Quality, and partner very closely with our Design Program Management and Design Systems team, as well as the Design leaders across Amazon's Devices & Services business to define, operationalize and scale the quality bar across DDG's major design functions (interaction design, expressions design, research, operations).

As a UX Research Ops Program Manager, you will be instrumental in helping shape the future of user experiences within the Devices & Services Design Group (DDG). You will join our Design Quality team responsible for accelerating high-quality, harmonious design by defining and scaling the standards that ensure exceptional product experiences across all DDG design disciplines and delivery mechanisms. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Design Quality, you will support the DDG UX Research (UXR) team which enables Amazon's Devices and Alexa business to make informed decisions based on sound mixed-method research. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day our fleet of UX Labs, partnering closely with the UX Research Ops Lead to enable our user research to deliver results, faster and with increased efficiency.

Key job responsibilities

UX Labs Support:

- Ensure dedicated lab facilities are consistently maintained, fully functional, and ready for use.

- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues quickly with creative, low-friction solutions to minimize downtime.

- Research, evaluate, and integrate new AV technologies to enhance lab capabilities and remove technical barriers for researchers.

- Support the use and integration of advanced tools, including biometrics and human factors technologies, tailored to evolving research needs.

- Adapt lab setups to meet each researcher's specific data capture requirements, ensuring flexibility and reliability.

- Author and maintain clear, scalable documentation for lab usage, supporting both local (Seattle) and global UX Lab operations.

Operations Coordination:

- Provide day-to-day operational support for the UXR team, with an understanding of the unique workflows across different research verticals.

- Train UX researchers on evolving lab processes through clear documentation, hands-on support, and proactive collaboration.

- Assist in onboarding and coordinating third-party vendors to support lab and research operations.

- Occasionally partner with broader Devices & Services teams and the wider Amazon UX Research community to consult and share Research Operations best practices.

About the team

The Amazon Devices and Services Design Group (DDG) is a multidisciplinary design team that is responsible for the UX of Echo Family Devices, Alexa Mobile, Fire TV, Fire Tablets and more. DDG's mission is to bring to life delightful, easy-to-use, and high value experiences for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years in Research Ops, Design Ops, AV/IT support, or a related operational role

- Proven ability to manage and execute projects involving lab infrastructure, tooling, or vendor coordination

- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce friction

- Clear communicator with experience creating documentation and training materials

- Familiarity with user research methodologies and tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Foundational knowledge of AV systems design, networking infrastructure, content management systems

- Experience managing and executing projects involving lab setup, infrastructure improvements, or technology integration

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to shifting technical and team needs

- Passion for operational excellence and enabling great research through seamless support

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $193,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
