Value Stream Manager - Exempt

Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Value Stream Manager ("VSM") is charged with leading a dedicated cross functional team comprised of Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, Supply Chain, Production Support and highly skilled Machinists in the manufacturing of aerospace components. The VSM manages and leads the team towards achieving daily and long-term key performance indicators tied to financial and operational metrics. This role also drives continuous improvement of the value stream at all levels and acts as liaison with other functions and the external customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction for value stream including long and short-range resource planning (labor, equipment) to ensure effective and profitable line function, adjusting to changing customer or business needs as required.
Ensure that Safety, Health and Environmental compliance is included as part of everyday activities while working cooperatively with the EH&S Manager to improve employee engagement in safety, health and environmental initiatives.
Execute the manufacturing schedules based on information and requirements to plan production on-time delivery of products while meeting quality standards, and at the lowest possible cost.
Manage the external supplier network which includes machining, coating, and grinding. Ensure the suppliers meet or exceed target performance for delivery, quality and cost.
Achieve and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the customer. Ensure any issues relative to achieving Customer schedule are resolved in as short a time as possible to mitigate any impact to the Customer
Champions Lean Manufacturing efforts within work cell(s)/value stream(s) to improve established metrics.
Lead process improvement efforts that achieve highly capable processes and world class yield rates.
Communicating across the organization to gain information and receive feedback and suggestions and provide updates and information.
Supervising production employees, including participation in selection, performance management (including evaluation and discipline), coaching, training and employee development, and ensuring compliance to legal and company requirements.
Reporting and pro-actively escalating issues to senior management that may impact business objectives.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.

Various other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Participate in training as required
5-10% Domestic Travel required
Job Qualification Requirements:
Must be a "US Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other related field required
Masters degree in Engineering or Business preferred
Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt or AME Silver, or equivalent Lean Manufacturing Certification preferred
7+ years experience in engineering or product management
8+ years experience in a production environment
5+ years in Aerospace Manufacturing management/Program Management/CI Management
5+ years experience leading and managing a team in a production environment
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop operational plans and knowledge of business finance linking financial outcomes with operations actions and strategy
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement
Experience leading operational transformation combined with organizational
Communication and leadership skills to communicate effectively and persuasively to individuals at all levels and to cross-functional group
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office products for the purpose of data analysis and preparing presentations.
