Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) has technology, engineering and program teams that educate and mentor colleagues to deliver leading Electronic Warfare capabilities. The EWIMC is seeking a Value Stream Specialist II (VSS) for a split 4th/8th shift at our Nashua, New Hampshire facility. The VSS position is an exciting, dynamic and fast paced role to lead and achieve operational excellence through production execution activities within a team-based manufacturing environment. Responsible for meeting customer commitments through on-time delivery and meeting cost, schedule, and quality performance targets. Leads a team of direct reports comprising assemblers, and test technicians, plans for and maintains appropriate staffing levels through talent retention and hiring. Implements process improvements, optimizes factory layout for manufacturing, and supports Kaizen events to improve product flow, reduce defects and improve cycle time. Maintain an effective and efficient organization while effectively communicating responsibilities and objectives to employees. Adhere to the highest standards of legal, ethical, and business conduct in relationships with fellow employees, the Company, suppliers, customers, and the public. This is a second shift position.

The responsibilities may include:

1. Coordinates value stream manufacturing execution and engages with factory employees as well as cross-functional team members to ensure production builds are aligned with program milestones and customer delivery schedules.

2. Provides people management leadership to the manufacturing personnel by coaching and developing direct reports. Assures the manufacturing team members have the necessary training and the training matrices are updated. Fully participates in the performance development process. Identifies and resolves performance problems. Provides guidance on labor charging and company policies and procedures.

3. Develops staffing plans, undertakes hiring actions to build and grow the touch team across all shifts.

5. Manages competing priorities resulting from several product line programs supported on mixed model line. Achieve increase in throughput and product flow in the factory.

6. Utilizes data tools to monitor and develop actions to achieve quality, delivery and cost targets.

7. Serves as the focal point to communicate and resolve issues within their value stream and between other factories. Coordinate with internal and external customers as necessary to ensure commitments are achieved. Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.

8. Timely reports on the WIP status and proactively engages with cross-functional team members to address production bottlenecks and drive solutions to meet customer commitments.

9. Leads Gemba and production stand up meetings, and presents status of production programs in cross-functional team meetings.

10. Support the factory manager in ensuring Factory Support Allocation, utilization and factory expense budgets are achieved and will identify issues driving the metrics

12. Ensures compliance with all safety and health regulations stated by internal company policy and Federal, State, and Local applicable standards.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years experience.
  • Prior manufacturing leadership experience is preferred to independently manage a mixed model production environment including assembly, integration and testing.
  • Experience in US defense industry manufacturing operations is highly desirable for this position,
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing change in manufacturing areas.
  • Experience with Lean Systems and/or Six Sigma, continuous improvements, 5S and meeting compliance requirements.
  • Sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers.
