VDC Specialist

Our Factory Engineering Team is looking to hire an experienced professional to support and develop out BIM and VDC workflows. This person will be directly responsible for coordination efforts and process enhancements for multiple projects within the Giga Texas project in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will be able to clearly communicate within teams with multiple technical and specialty disciplines. Experience in working with large, complex projects and the ability to multi-task your supporting efforts will help you excel in this job.

Responsibilities

• The VDC Specialist is expected to provide both management and design skills in support of the creation of detailed and accurate BIM models
• This role will support efforts from planning and conceptual effort through construction, commissioning and hand-over to the Operations teams
• As part of the Factory Engineering team, our BIM and VDC processes start with scoping and conceptual project design, and conclude after each phase of the project is operating at its optimum level
• This position will set the course for the digital delivery, coordination and collaboration of project teams within a large and fast-moving project. This includes working with peers, consultants, discipline leads and executive management through the multiple design projects within the overall infrastructure program
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for proper setup and maintenance of project models, They will review and assist with design efforts within the factory program, and oversee the integration of data into larger federated building models. This may involve 8-10 (or more) design and engineering disciplines that are located both on and off premises
• Projects are cloud-hosted and span across multiple internal and external design teams in different geographies and time zones. The also will offer the opportunity to coordinate various design authoring tools into Tesla's BIM workflows
• This person is directly responsible for the review, communication, and presentation of discovered coordination/design issues produced by the Facility Design Teams, Fabrication Designers/Planners, Engineering Teams, Trade Contractors, and other project collaborators. They will oversee tracking and ensure resolution of design issues prior to project execution

Requirements

• Degree in Architecture, or equivalent, or evidence of exceptional ability
• 4 years of hands-on experience working within a coordination specialty or in construction of large-scale projects, experience with high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.) preferred, but not required
• Proven expertise in using, and supporting users in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks and various reality capture applications
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, IFC, data interoperability and general awareness of other BIM and parametric design applications
• Experience interfacing with Project Controls Teams (construction, scheduling, asset acquisition and cost control) regarding quantity takeoffs, including alignment between Work Breakdown Structure, cost tracking, data entry, value tracking and the associated BIM parameters
