The American Heart Association Ventures team is seeking a Studio Red Lead in executing new healthcare innovation initiatives focused on cardiology and brain health. This role will support identifying, developing, and commercializing new business opportunities in these areas, driving impact and financial sustainability for Studio Red and its ventures.
This individual will work closely with Studio Red leadership, healthcare experts, and strategic partners to manage projects that align with the Association's mission "to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives." The ideal candidate has experience in business management, healthcare innovation, and project execution, with a strong ability to collaborate across stakeholders and drive high-impact results.
This position can be home-based.

Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the planning, execution, and management of Studio Red healthcare innovation projects, ensuring alignment with cardiology and brain health priorities.
- Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for project development, from initial concept through commercialization.
- Establish and follow a formal operating calendar to ensure structured project execution and clear milestone tracking.
- Support Studio Red leadership in evaluating new opportunities across healthcare sectors (e.g., digital, device, services, etc.)
Market Research & Business Development
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new areas in cardiology and brain health that present business opportunities.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to assess commercialization potential and define go-to-market strategies.
- Identify opportunities to integrate entrepreneurial and innovative practices into Studio Red's business development activities.
Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
- Establish and maintain long-term peer relationships with senior executives, industry leaders, and researchers in healthcare.
- Collaborate with entrepreneurs, healthcare institutions, and venture investors to accelerate innovation.
- Act as a Studio Red ambassador, representing the organization in industry events, conferences, and strategic meetings.
- Ensure effective communication and engagement with internal Association units, aligning projects with broader organizational priorities.
Operational & Financial Oversight
- Support the tracking of project budgets, financial performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure project success.
- Prepare reports and insights for Studio Red leadership and external stakeholders on venture progress, financial outcomes, and impact.
- Manage relationships with funding partners and donors, ensuring projects are aligned with funding priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, life sciences, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- At least Five (5) years of experience in resource allocation in health technology and/or services, medical devices, diagnostics, or life sciences.
- Proven experience in project management, market analysis, and healthcare business development.
- Ability to lead and participate in strategic discussions with C-level executives, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.
- Experience managing large, complex projects in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and drive results in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
- Willingness to travel (~30%) for meetings, conferences, project oversight, and business development.
Preferred Experience:
- Master's degree (MBA or PhD) in life sciences, business, or healthcare-related fields.
- Ten (10) years of experience in experience in resource allocation in health technology and/or services, medical devices, diagnostics, or life sciences.
- Experience in startup incubation, venture studio environments, or corporate innovation roles.
- Strong understanding of healthcare ecosystems, including hospitals, payers, and medical research.
- Familiarity with cardiovascular and neurological health technologies and trends.
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, or project management frameworks.

- Compensation - Our goal is to ensure you have a competitive base salary. That's why we regularly review the market value of jobs and make adjustments, as needed.
- Performance and Recognition - You are rewarded for achieving success by merit increases and incentive programs. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive of up to 10% of your base pay for this role. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.
