We are currently looking for a Full Time Vice Chief of Pediatrics to join our Division of Primary Care Clinic and Public Health team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working .

Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical leadership to the Department in concert with the Department Chief of Pediatrics. This position is responsible for providing departmental clinical leadership, departmental quality of care, departmental safety, departmental clinical productivity and access, departmental provider wellness and engagement, department provider staffing, department OPPE and FPPE and disciplinary management of departmental clinical staff who hold clinical privileges and are members of the medical staff in conjunction with the Department Chief.

Responsibilities:
* Supports and communicates the CNDH mission and vision
* Maintains sensitivity to First American culture
* Maintains a clinical practice providing comprehensive specialty based services including diagnosis, assessment, treatment, procedural intervention if within the scope of privileges, appropriate referral and ongoing care for patients
* Serves as the delegate for the Department Chief of Pediatrics when delegated to do so and/or in absence of the Department Chief
* Serves as the functional clinical leader of the department assuming responsibility for setting the vision for departmental clinical direction and performance and for determining the specialty standard of care
* Recommends to the medical staff the criteria for clinical privileges that are relevant to the care provided in the department
* Recommends clinical privileges for each member of the department
* Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of care, treatment and services
* Represents the department in clinical care matters upon supervisor's approval
* Engages in public speaking and presentation of reports regarding department clinical performance, updates and accomplishments
* Assists with the implementation and optimization of the EMR and other platforms as needed
* Performs annual BSB evaluations, delegated by Department Chief, on all clinical staff within supervised departments and assures annual BSB's are aligned with organizational strategy and organizational and departmental goals
* Champions department quality and serves as a leader responsible for department quality and represents the department at quality and safety meetings
* Works collegially across departments to assure clinical services are integrated to maximize benefits for patients and families
* Develops up to date, evidence based, department didactic and educational content for rotating residents and students
* Oversees health and outcomes of patient population in those departments under supervision
* Assures clinical safety and compliance with CMS accreditation requirements in all departments supervise
* Assists in a clinical leadership capacity with the CNDH journey to initiate, integrate and customize a modern EMR and enhance clinical services by way of utilization of electronic records and tools
* Assists in development of clinical workflows, clinical process, population health and other issues related to the use of the EMR, IT and clinical analytics
* Assists the operational leadership with panel sizing and panel management and clinic model optimization
* Oversees effective workflows and patient flows in acute spaces and clinical areas that assure patient waiting is minimized and that providers are supported to be efficient and effective
* Attends and facilitates meetings as needed
* Monitors and evaluates clinically related activities of the department
* Ensures integration of the department or service into the primary functions of the organization
* Ensures orientation and continuing education of all persons in the medical staff department or service
* Recommends space and other resources needed by the department or service
* Cooperates with other departments of the CNDH and clinics to improve patient care, to help physicians in other departments improve their skills, and to participate in educational programs conducted by the Medical Staff
* Cooperates with the CNDH administration to establish and enforce rules and regulations for improved patient care
* Conducts periodic staff conferences and reports quarterly to the chief of staff any recommendations for improvement of patient care within the CNDH
* Collaborates with leadership to ensure that departmental performance meets or exceeds standards described in Medical Staff bylaws, policies and procedures, department policies and procedures, Joint Commission standards, and in other appropriate local and national standards
* Reviews and addresses complaints and/or grievances filed against the department's medical staff providers
* Serves as member of the Medical Executive Council and of Medical Staff Committees as assigned
* Reports to the department on findings of the Medical Executive Committee and its subordinate committees
* Leads the department in the design and implementation of continuous quality improvement efforts in appropriate clinical areas
* Enforces medical staff bylaws, policies and procedures within the department, and initiate investigations of clinical performance, when necessary
* Provides input on medical policies and make specific recommendations regarding his or her own department
* Practices and encourages good guest relations with patients, visitors, medical staff and other healthcare professionals
* Completes, communicates, and distributes the department and emergency room on-call schedule in a timely manner
* Transmits to the Medical Executive Committee recommendations concerning appointment, reappointment and delineation of clinical privileges for all individuals in department
* Stops or prevents any procedure or therapy which is not, in their opinion, compatible with accepted medical practice or which would threaten the life of the patient
* Ensures all schedule coordination for patients
* Provides continuing surveillance of the professional performance of all individuals in the department who have delineated clinical privileges
* Assesses and recommends off-site sources for needed patient care, treatment and services not provided by the department or the organization
* Maintains quality control programs to continuously assess and improve the quality of care, treatment and services
* Ensures coordination and integration of interdepartmental and intradepartmental services
* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types

* Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), HealthCare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or other similar clinical leadership master's level degree
