Vice President, Academic Affairs
The College of DuPage invites applications for theVice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA). The VPAA provides executiveleadership, advocacy, vision and supervision, strategic and integratedplanning, and oversight for all dimensions of academic affairs, contributing tothe high-quality educational experience for the College's diverse community members.
Reporting to the President and serving as a member of thepresidential cabinet, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) servesas the Chief Academic Officers (CAO) of the College, directing the work of theacademic leadership team, including deans, associate deans, full-time andadjunct faculty, and staff.
The VPAA participates in strategicplanning, policy formulation, budgetary decisions and problem solving for thecollege, specifically focusing on matters related to its academic programs andpersonnel. The VPAA workscollaboratively with the Vice President of Student Services to offer advice andcounsel to the President on the implications of institutional decisions on bothacademic programs and the student experience. The VPAA is responsible for planning, developing and administering the College'seducational programs, ensuring the academic integrity of the College whilesupporting innovation in programs and methods of delivery that respond to arapidly evolving academic environment. The VPAA will be expected to provide leadership, vision, direction, andadvocacy for a comprehensive array of academic resources for students andfaculty, while identifying, implementing, and evaluating strategies thatsupport student success, including academic persistence and completion ofcertificates and degrees.
College of DuPage (COD) is a comprehensivecommunity college with far-reaching impact. Located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois,just 25 miles outside of Chicago, the campus covers 273 acres. The College isfirmly rooted in the community yet committed to reflecting the needs anddemands of an ever-changing world. College of DuPage offers seven degrees inmore than 150 areas of study, and each degree program emphasizes relevantcoursework and results-focused teaching by dedicated faculty. With more than26,000 students served annually, COD is the largest community college in thestate.
Qualifications:
Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in order to perform the duties of the job. Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature. Non-traditional hours may be required. This position requires a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications:
- Education
- Terminal degree in area required. A doctorate degree strongly preferred.
- Experience
- Successful completion of at least eight (8) years of progressively challenging responsibilities in a higher education setting including at least four (4) years of experience as a dean and/or associate/assistant vice president required.
- Significant teaching experience at the college and/or corporate level and a deep knowledge of and appreciation for the role and importance of engaged learning.
- Experience in a unionized environment required.
- Possess effective strategic planning skills as well as a solid record of managing large, complex budgets required.
- Proven record of making and implementing challenging, complicated, and evidence-based decisions required.
- Previous experience in garnering collaboration with various stakeholders and have a commitment to remain visible, transparent, inspiring, persuasive and accomplished at managing strategic communication systems required.
- Background in advocating for cross constituency communications, making data driven decisions, supporting professional development, understanding the value of the arts and navigating and managing internal/external organizational politics required.
- Experience on both the academic and student services sides of the academic leadership spectrum preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise working with a board of trustees preferred.
- Record of providing access to opportunities for diverse populations of students as well as faculty preferred.
