The Vice President - Applications is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and management of the organization's application portfolio. This role ensures the alignment of application strategies with business objectives, drives innovation, and optimizes processes to support operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Define and execute the long-term application development strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
    • Develop and maintain a robust application roadmap, prioritizing projects based on business value and impact.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership and service lines to understand organizational needs and translate them into actionable technology solutions.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to guide decision-making and innovation.
  • Application Development and Management:
    • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of custom and off-the-shelf applications to meet business requirements.
    • Ensure the performance, scalability, security, and reliability of all enterprise applications.
    • Lead the integration of applications across platforms and ensure seamless interoperability.
    • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of high-quality applications that meet business needs and exceed customer expectations.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing applications team, including developers, engineers and analysts.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
    • Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Governance and Compliance:
    • Develop and enforce policies, standards, and procedures for application development, deployment, and maintenance.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, data privacy, and security standards.
    • Manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships related to application development and support.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Regularly evaluate application performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including business leaders, product managers, and IT operations teams.
    • Communicate progress, challenges, and success metrics to executive stakeholders.
    • Drive change management efforts and support user adoption for new or updated applications.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Establish and maintain robust application performance monitoring and incident management processes.
    • Ensure the security, availability, and reliability of all applications.
    • Lead efforts to streamline processes, reduce costs, and maximize return on investment (ROI) in technology solutions.
    • Implement strategies to modernize legacy systems and leverage emerging technologies.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • 10+ years of experience in application development, management, and leadership roles.
    • Proven experience with enterprise application platforms, cloud solutions, and system integration.
    • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile and DevOps.
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Experience managing large-scale application portfolios and budgets.
