Description:
This role will be responsible for global management of IMI's chartering activities, overseeing a global team of chartering managers, performing/supervising fixtures, and assisting in post-fixtures activities for bulk vessels chartered by the Company. He or she will develop and maintain a system to provide the Company with up-to-date visibility of all chartered vessels. The VP Chartering will keep in constant contact with brokers and owners and report regularly to Company Traders and management about actual positions, freight markets, trends and analysis. He or she will introduce best practice methods and or adjust existing processes accordingly.
A key component of the role will be to commercialize the Chartering function with a particular focus on position optimization, broker engagement strategies, the development of predictive analytics and the management of optionality, both inherent and as negotiated with ship owners.
Manage global team of chartering managers who provide ship chartering support to the Company's trade managers.
Assure managerial best practices with regard to the use of technology and processes that provide efficient and accurate decision-making data
Strategically manage the chartering of vessels for dry bulk goods (cement, clinker, gypsum, coal, petcoke, iron ore, etc.), ensuring optimal service and cost efficiency.
Maintain robust relationships with brokers, owners, and internal stakeholders to enhance business outcomes and market position.
Develop and implement a comprehensive visibility system for all chartered vessels in the region to optimize deployments and operational efficiencies.
Drive the negotiation and finalization of charter agreements, and oversee all subsequent chartering operations, including post-fixture activities.
Regularly provide insights and analysis on market trends, freight rates, and other critical factors affecting the shipping industry to executive management and company traders.
Implement best practices and innovate existing processes to enhance the chartering operations' effectiveness and efficiency
Perform detailed market analysis to acquire the best price for the movement of dry bulk goods.
Work closely and liaise with the Trading and Operations teams to ensure the trading process is as efficient as possible.
Measuring and reporting third-party service provider performance.
Maintaining files of all vessels chartered by the company.
Reporting fixture results
Developing and maintain chartering operating procedures.
Supporting the ongoing and development of a safety and excellence culture.
Make complete voyage plan and estimates.
Networking and engaging with key stakeholders to raise profile of the business
Ensure the maintenance of detailed records for all operational activities and chartered vessels.
Develop strategic business plans and contribute to the overall business strategy to drive growth and market leadership.

20+ years in the shipping industry working as a shipbroker or charterer or owner
