Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO), the VP of Compliance will be an integral part of MRO's compliance and legal team during a critical and exciting time in the company's growth.

The VP of Compliance will provide strategic leadership on compliance issues that affect the organization and its clients and will serve as a trusted advisor to the CLO, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and the Board of Directors. Day-to-day, the VP of Compliance will be the driving force behind the ongoing success of the Compliance team and program. The VP of Compliance must be able to build consensus by establishing trust with key company leaders and providing thoughtful insight and data on a myriad of compliance issues relevant to the company and its clients. The VP of Compliance must be extremely self-motivated and possess strong initiative, business acumen, and excellent people management skills. The VP of Compliance will fully align with the current culture of transparency and collaboration.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the compliance program in accordance with the elements described by the Department of Justice and HHS Office of the Inspector General.
  • Hire, lead, and manage compliance team staff.
  • Manage suite of company policies and procedures, and oversee drafting, revising, deploying and training on policies and procedures in concert with relevant business units.
  • Implement and manage annual internal compliance risk assessment, annual work plan, and audit plan.
  • Oversee and track required compliance trainings.
  • Develop and report key compliance metrics across all business lines.
  • Develop and manage appropriate governance structures for compliance, including running regular meetings of management compliance committee.
  • Work closely with (i) legal team to ensure common understanding of applicable laws, and (ii) government affairs team to anticipate changes in laws that affect the company's business and compliance program.
  • Develop program to advise and inform company clients of compliance matters relating to company's products and services.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO, CLO, or Board of Directors from time-to-time incident to the above.

SKILLS|EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 10+ years of progressively complex experience in a healthcare setting, ideally as a sitting VP of Compliance or Chief Compliance Officer, although deputy or divisional compliance officers with appropriate experience, span of responsibility, and executive presence will also be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree required; a Master's degree in Law, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or equivalent are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate knowledge of a company's business, strategy, and key initiatives into assessments of compliance risk and compliance program elements.
  • Experience assessing compliance risk according to relevant data and delivering practical solutions on issues of materiality to a company.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state privacy and data protection laws and regulations relevant to healthcare, including HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and HITECH.
  • Knowledge of regulations relating to Medicare and Medicaid program participation, qualified clinical data registries, and third-party intermediaries.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a strong team and create a sense of cohesion and morale while driving the team to achieve its goals.
  • Experience working directly with senior company leadership and presenting to senior leaders and boards of directors on compliance matters.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty; ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • High level of integrity, executive maturity, humility, and self-awareness.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of urgency and initiative with little day-to-day instruction and oversight.
  • Experienced in sponsor-backed (PE, VC) or other high-growth environment preferred.
