Role Summary
Reporting to the President, and working closely with the Senior Executive Team, the VP, Development will lead Century Group's Development division. The VP, Development is accountable for the development planning and process of CG projects.
Key Accountabilities
Real Estate Leadership & Tactical Project Management
- Oversee the full life cycle for mixed-use, residential, and commercial developments
- Leverage deep experience in balancing the intricate interplay of technical disciplines, including architectural, acoustic, mechanical, geotechnical, and others - ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements such as the BC Building Code, Energy Step Code, and the Strata Properties Act
- Navigate challenges in land title, legal aspects of public relations, ensuring smooth coordination with municipal authorities and stakeholders
- Provide strategic input on marketing leasing, and branding, understanding the nuances of urban form, design, and sale strategy
- Demonstrate a thorough grasp of contract law, real estate economics, finance, and risk management, ensuring projects are financially viable and legally sound
- Ensure tight integration between development and construction teams, optimizing communication to mitigate risks and enhance coordination
Enterprise Leadership
- Serve as a key member of the Senior Executive Team (SET), providing leadership on Century Group's direction
- Balance competing demands for financial capital and human resources, while maintaining a focus on long-term profitability and sustainability
- Guide the organization with business-minded acumen, understanding when to stand firm on convictions and when to adjust based on evolving enterprise needs
- Play a role in company-wide decision-making, ensuring alignment between short-term project goals and long-term business strategy
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of project manager, designers, and sales and marketing professionals, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence through active listening, empathy, and by empowering individuals to make their best decisions
Strategic Industry Foresight
- Stay ahead of evolving political, public policy, and social trends that impact the real estate industry, positioning Century Group to respond to emerging challenges
- Continuously analyze market conditions and identify opportunities for growth, ensuring the company remains competitive in the shifting Metro Vancouver landscape
Education & Experience
- 10+ Years of real estate development leadership experience
- PMP designation is preferred
- Education in real estate development considered an asset
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in the real estate industry
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Coach and mentor current staff
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop systems that streamline processes and support high functioning teams
