Summary of the Job
The Vice President of Nursing - Central Market is a key member of the Deaconess Central Region leadership team, reporting to the regional President and collaborating closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This role oversees nursing care and clinical operations across facilities in the Evansville, Indiana metro area, including Gateway Hospital, Midtown Hospital, The Women's Hospital, Deaconess Henderson Hospital, Deaconess Union County (KY), and Cross Pointe Hospital.

Responsibilities include setting and maintaining patient care standards, developing strategic nursing initiatives, managing quality and performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving fiscal accountability. The VP of Nursing leads transformation efforts to support integrated, efficient care delivery across campuses.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Establish and monitor standards for patient care outcomes.
  • Lead efforts to achieve and sustain Magnet designation.
  • Represent the organization in community initiatives aligned with the mission.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., JCAHO, HFAP, CMS).
  • Review operational trends and reports to track progress toward goals.
  • Demonstrate ethical leadership and corporate compliance.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Talent Acquisition function of Human Resources. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns in accordance with policies and laws.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant leadership experience.
  • Experience in healthcare operations or employee relations preferred.
