Job Overview:
The Vice President of Ambulatory Operations for the Cancer Center is responsible for managing the outpatient clinical operations, encompassing both adult and pediatric outpatient clinics and the infusion center. This role not only provides leadership and oversight for these care delivery services but also serves as the primary point of contact for any issues that may arise within all departments of the cancer center. The VP will work closely with other senior leaders to ensure operational effectiveness and will have direct or indirect oversight of the full operational functionality of the cancer center, ensuring the efficient delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care while maintaining safe, high-quality access and outcomes.

Job Overview:

- The Vice President Ambulatory Operations for the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer of the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field required
- A minimum of 5 years of successful progressive healthcare/facility management experience, preferably in Oncology Services
- High level, complex problem-solving abilities both in groups and in one-on-one situations. Ability to translate the mission and vision to everyday work
- Ability to manage and lead in a matrixed organization
- Strong communication, leadership, and team building skills
- Demonstrated experience and success delivering excellent service, operational and quality outcomes within an academic medical center setting
- Established business sense
- Strong business insight, a sophisticated knowledge of healthcare funding, and experience in competitive marketplaces with the ability to make complex and difficult decisions
- Highly developed communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, particularly with physicians and executives
- Detailed knowledge of information systems
- Skill using and analyzing information systems to quickly recommend opportunities for optimization and efficiency
Essential Functions:
- Achieve the highest level of performance in the Morris Cancer Center Ambulatory Service Units. Establish, monitor, and manage strategies to ensure productivity, operational and financial performance, and patient throughput
- Serve as a liaison and advisor for all clinical or non-clinical departments/areas within the cancer center, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless collaboration and integration of services that enhance the patient experience
- Analyzing audit reports and formulating improvements to departmental workings
- Enhance the quality, access, safety, and efficiency of patient services and increase patient satisfaction with a focus on performance excellence and high reliability
- Leverage technology and data to continually measure results, improvements, and successes through key performance metrics
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders to align ambulatory practice, safety, value-based initiatives
- Ensure compliance with ambulatory regulatory requirements, including accreditation standards, Joint Commission regulations, and HIPAA guidelines
- Oversee and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ambulatory operations, including patient flow, scheduling, and resource utilization
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the ambulatory oncology service line, aligning with overall organizational goals
- Manage the budget and financial performance of ambulatory oncology operations, ensuring profitability and cost-effectiveness
- Provide leadership and guidance to ambulatory operations staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Collaborate with other clinical departments and physician leaders to ensure seamless integration of care across the continuum
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that support the effective and efficient operation of ambulatory oncology services
- Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and track progress towards goal
- Drive the delivery of exceptional patient care by collaborating with clinical leaders to implement evidence-based practices, and innovative treatments throughout the ambulatory clinical care setting
- Ensure patient-centric approaches and the highest quality and safety standards in clinical care Lead a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to advance cancer patient care in full alignment with the Cancer Institute's teaching, research and service missions
- Drive greater performance through system-thinking and creativity to create the ideal patient experience by continuously improving quality metrics, employee engagement, patient care services, expense reduction, managing staffing ratios, productivity and service line growth and expansion
- Work collaboratively with the Morris Cancer Center executive team to help elevate RWJUH Oncology Services/Rutgers Cancer Center into the Top 50 Cancer Programs in the Nation by 2031, supporting the vision for honor roll status in US News & World Report
- Promotes collaboration and partnership among multiple parties inside The Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center and RWJBarnabas Health
