Vice President of Business Development Hybrid onsite in Vienna, VA (1-2 days per week onsite) Role Overview: The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for establishing, enhancing, and promoting trusted relationships with our target customers. This role involves creating and managing a pipeline by identifying, assessing, and assisting in capturing and closing health business opportunities. You will facilitate the identification of mission needs, promote our full range of corporate capabilities, and optimize both external and internal collaborations. This includes developing an account plan for the market and leading our customer engagement strategy. You will be involved in identifying and cultivating new opportunities and contributing to the win strategy for strategic captures. Responsibilities: Develop and recommend customer-specific account strategies and goals with a focus on health agencies (VA, DHA, HHS). Create and manage a pipeline that supports the financial goals of the business unit. Identify, qualify, and support the capture and closure of business opportunities in collaboration with the business and capture teams. Participate in various stages of the business development process, including pipeline reviews, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, and proposal reviews. Create strategic and tactical plans to support client engagement and drive growth. Serve as a subject matter expert, identifying and engaging with key influencers and decision-makers at all levels of the customer organization. Build and maintain strong relationships with mid and senior-level leaders. Collaborate with key executives to generate and develop ideas and pursue growth opportunities. Provide guidance and leadership on the company's strategy-to-action plans, assisting in achieving key milestones and driving growth. Act as a customer advocate by identifying mission needs and representing the customer's perspective. Promote the full range of corporate capabilities to potential customers. Support overall strategic planning and align pursuits/capture activities with business development metrics for awards, submissions, and pipeline. Conduct market research, analyze customer preferences, and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of incumbent contractors. Required Skills & Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 10+ years of business development experience. 5-10+ years of direct work experience with an in-depth understanding of health agencies. Relevant Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the agency communities. Demonstrable ability to leverage a pre-existing network of clients or contacts. Prior experience in collaboration efforts outside the organization. Poised, exceptional executive presence and highly articulate. Proven ability to positively influence change at different levels of the organization. Desired Skills & Experience: Degree preferred in business administration or a health-related field. Experience in relationship building that increases market penetration and leads to increased opportunities with new and existing clients. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and work with supporting functions and other delivery organizations for win/win results. Experience with breaking into new accounts/customers through effective capture tactics.
