Job Summary
AMAROK is seeking a visionary VP of Research and Development to spearhead the innovation and future direction of our infrastructure and perimeter defense solutions. This leader will be responsible for all R&D activities, from identifying customer pain points and discovering new technologies to leading rigorous research and developing technically sound, customer-focused solutions. They will define and execute a long-term strategic roadmap, collaborating with product development to expand into new areas like gate access, lighting, radar, and robotic security, while continuously improving core offerings. This leader will also build a high-performing engineering team, leverage data-driven insights, and apply their deep expertise in industrial, electrical, and mechanical engineering to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and deliver impactful results that build AMAROK's future and competitive advantage. This position is located in Columbia, South Carolina.

Annual Compensation Range:$175,000 - $180,000. Compensation is determined based on competitive market data, experience, skillset and geographical location.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the complete R&D lifecycle for existing and new product solutions, from identifying pain points to final testing.
- Build and manage a high-performing engineering team focused on innovation, speed, and quality.
- Drive the development of new solutions, including gate access, radar, robotics, and affordable fencing options.
- Oversee the development and testing of new materials, electronic components, and integrated technologies, ensuring ease of use and cost-efficiency.
- Leverage data and customer feedback to improve product utilization, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and ensure AMAROK's competitive edge.
- Translate customer insights into actionable product requirements and development priorities.
- Develop and manage the R&D budget, timelines, and resource allocation, monitoring project progress and risks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various internal teams and external partners to ensure successful product development and implementation.
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts to enhance product reliability and address failure modes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related). Master's preferred.
- 10+ years in engineering, product development, or technical innovation leadership (security, industrial, or connected hardware preferred).
- Proven experience managing R&D or engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and research methodologies.
- Track record of successful product launches.
- Data-driven with strong analytical and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
