We are seeking a Virtualization Engineer for our shared-services Information Technology (IT) department in the Atlanta, GA or Meridian, MS officeThis position is hybrid.
We are seeking a skilled virtualization engineer to join our IT team. This role involves managing,
maintaining, and optimizing Linux server environments and Windows Hyper-V infrastructure. The
ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both Linux and Windows systems, experience
with virtualization technologies, and a proactive approach to maintaining high availability and
performance across the IT infrastructure. This position requires travel up to 25% per year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Linux Server Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
Manage and monitor server performance, ensuring stability and reliability.
Virtualize servers using Proxmox.
Automate repetitive tasks using shell scripting and configuration management tools (e.g.,
Ansible).
Familiarity with ssh key and certificate authentication and best practices.
Familiarity with integration of Linux into an Active Directory environment.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues related to Linux servers.
Windows Hyper-V Administration:
Manage and maintain the Windows Hyper-V environment, including the installation,
configuration, and upgrading of Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines.
Monitor and optimize virtual environments to ensure high availability and performance.
Implement disaster recovery solutions and backup strategies for virtualized environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Hyper-V infrastructure.
Work with other IT staff to integrate Hyper-V with other systems and services.

Network and Security Management:
Collaborate with network administrators to ensure optimal integration between Linux and
Windows environments.
Implement and enforce security best practices per Cyber Security team's guidance across all
managed systems.
Work with Cyber Security team to conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and change management.
Provide regular reports on system performance, security, and availability.
Assist in the development of IT policies and procedures.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with other IT staff to support business objectives.
Provide technical support to end-users and other team members.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES (include computer, language, mathematical, and analytical skills required)
Proficiency in Linux system administration (e.g., shell scripting, file systems including ZFS and
Ceph, package management).
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Hyper-V, including clustering, replication, and
networking.
Familiarity with networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing).
Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (include certificates, licenses, or registrations required)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Linux & Windows Hyper-v server environments
