Description:
The VP Claims (SafePort) oversees the handling of all claims filed under Company policies. The individual in this position will work with a dynamic team of dedicated professionals who are committed to excellence in providing property-casualty insurance. Primary responsibilities include oversight of third-party claims handling, approval of large loss claims, litigated claims consulting and strategy, and participating in claims handling audits. The ideal candidate will have both field and desk experience, expertise in catastrophe-prone territories and catastrophe claims, and extensive knowledge of policy provisions and coverages.

Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and update claims best practices, policies, and procedures
- Responsible for auditing and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and guidelines
- Manage relationships and work product of claims handling partners
- Partner with Product/Underwriting, Sales, and Operational leadership to optimize overall product design, marketing, and delivery
- Oversee and consistently manage the claims processes; coordinate efforts with other claims functions such as QA, claims legal, subrogation, SIU, service centers, claims technical and claims staff support
- Monitor progress and resolve any identified issues; provide resolution recommendations
- Assist in implementing corporate plans, long range goals and objectives
- Deliver a positive customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective customers
- Assist in achieving overall organizational objectives and profitable growth
- Recommend process improvements aimed at ensuring best-in-class service
- Exercise proper judgment and decision making to analyze the claims exposure, determine the proper course of action and appropriately settle the claim
- Navigate and make strategic decisions on litigation, working closely with General Counsel and external counsel on the same
- Clearly communicate concise action plans, and present plans for moving the case to conclusion
- Responsible for claims/third party administration oversight consistent with corporate policies, procedures and "best practices" in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements
- Analyze and work toward improvement of claim performance and quality through the use of metrics and quality assurance audits
- Manage select administrative functions
- May perform other related duties and special projects as assigned or requested
Minimum Requirements
Education, training, and experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Insurance or business-related field and/or equivalent combination of High School Diploma/GED, training and work experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in property casualty claims
- Experience in oversight of third-party claims administrators highly preferred
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite with high-level Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and the ability to deliver work products with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong verbal and written skills, and the ability to convey complex information
- Available to work across time zones with flexibility to follow up on items outside of business hours, including weekends
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, able to prioritize effectively and meet strict deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
