Assists the Sr. Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer in managing the day-to-day compliance goals and activities, conducts compliance reviews, investigates potential issues, and ensures adherence to all applicable laws, rules and regulations for the Albany Med Health System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Vice President is responsible for the development and execution of the annual Compliance Plan necessary to provide an effective compliance program for AMHS and its affiliates.
  • In the absence of the Chief Compliance Officer, the Vice President will act as the senior Compliance Officer for AMHS and its affiliated entities.
  • Independently implement and assess a variety of complex compliance risk areas.
  • Present and coordinate information cross-functionally to ensure operational success with internal and external stakeholders related to implementation of regulatory requirements.
  • Strategize with the Chief Compliance Officer to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Participate in the development of the risk adjusted yearly compliance work plan.
  • Monitor and manage work plan programs and activities ensuring measurable and timely completion of yearly work plan programs.
  • Supervise and provide directions to team members on policies, best practices and performance issues.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through attending seminars and professional affiliations.
  • Consistent communication is related to project updates and changes.
  • Insure data driven decision making approaches are implemented and utilized.
  • Solicit, review and consider all available options and perspectives.
  • Balance quick decision making with a thorough analysis of all involved factors.
  • Revisit and re-assess decisions when new information emerges.
  • Provide leadership in developing organization culture of ethical behavior consistent with applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Insure the standardization of best practices.
  • Promote a culture of collegial communication, safety and inclusion.
  • Promote the culture of inclusion, collegial communication and mitigation of clinical deterioration.


Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Education or related Health Administration - required
  • 10+ years of regulatory experience in the healthcare industry to include practical experience managing compliance with the various False Claims Act provisions, the Stark Law, the Antikickback statute, CMP's and other relevant laws and regulations applicable to a healthcare system - required
  • Knowledge of investigations, audit methodology, and the compliance regulations and guidance of the US DOJ, DHHS OIG and the NYS OMIG
  • CHC - Certified Healthcare Compliance Upon Hire - preferred
  • Healthcare Compliance Officer (CPCO)-AAPC Upon Hire - preferred
  • CRCMP - Certified Risk And Compliance Professional Upon Hire - preferred
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) Upon Hire - preferred

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
