Position Overview

As the VP, Investments Delivery Center at RGA, you'll be at the helm of a critical function within the Global Technology Delivery organization. Your primary mission? To drive excellence in the technology strategy and services enabling RGA's over $90 billion dollar investment portfolio. You will achieve this through close partnership with Investments leadership, the business engagement function, and the boarder Global Technology organization.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic IT leader with a proven track record in managing and delivering complex technology projects. They will possess strong technical skills, excellent project management capabilities and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. They should demonstrate expertise in building a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work culture, and have strong talent management skills, including hiring, training, and mentoring. A strategic mindset and commitment to driving results in alignment with RGA's goals will be essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Strategy, Vision, and Leadership
  • Provides leadership, vision, and direction for a product engineering organization through managers and technical architecture staff and across multiple systems and workstreams.
  • Partners closely with the Business Engagement function to understand and support the development of product roadmaps and ensure alignment of the delivery center's operations roadmaps and investments.
  • Partners closely with Enterprise Architecture to maintain strategic alignment, gain architectural guidance, manage risks, foster innovation adoption, optimize resources, and drive continuous improvement across IT initiatives and operations.
  • Accountable for continuous improvement of the delivery center's tools, processes and support resulting in measurable improvements in both mid-term and long-term results.
  • Accountable for the delivery center budget, with ongoing focus on personnel, vendor, and capital expenditures.

Talent Management Responsibilities
  • Leads, manages, and directs the activities of the department in all aspects of supervisory duties, including, developing effective people strategies, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors' functional management, first line managers, and associates.
  • Build a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness.

Operations
  • Ensure accountability for performance and results of the product engineering teams' delivery of the technology components of the division's strategic roadmaps.
  • Lead engineering teams and other stakeholders to set goals for improving product quality, maintainability, security, and scalability and monitor progress against these goals.
  • Accountable for overall production and performance of development in production and meeting all relevant service level commitments.
  • Implement and manage software development status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks.
  • Ensure that systems comply with relevant policy, contractual, statutory, and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee management of relationships with consultants, vendors, and contractors and support negotiation of statements of work and business terms with suppliers.

General

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years' experience in direct people management
  • 10+ years' experience in a project management, programming, or systems analysis

Preferred:
  • Relevant business credentials including LOMA
  • Master's degree with technology as a core component.
  • 5+ years in a managerial role with multimillion dollar budget oversight and accountability.

  • Fluent in software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Fluent in relevant tools and platforms (e.g., cloud platforms, web technologies, client-server technologies, continuous integration, and deployment), with an eagerness to learn about new and unfamiliar technologies.

The general pay range for this position is $170K-$230K per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
