Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Vice President (SVP) Home and Community Services and Support (HCSS), the Vice President In Home Services (VP I.H.S) is responsible for enterprise-wide In-Home Care Services. This individual will hold accountability for program and process development, compliance of program(s), identification and implementation of best practices and associated outcomes, and overall monitoring of utilization and care to participants. In Home Services program development includes national program support, direction, compliance, and oversight. Serves as a key member of the HCSS Leadership Team. The VP provides leadership, analysis, planning, support and guidance to ensure that all In Home Service programs provide the highest quality care and meet the mission of InnovAge while meeting the needs of our participants.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Leadership & Operations

Estimated Percent of time Spent - 50%
  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement In Home Services programs and processes enterprise-wide
  • Evaluates and monitors the organization's In-Home Service's operations, compliance, staffing, and utilization of services.
  • Enhance, develop, and implement policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall clinical operation and effectiveness of the national In-Home Services across all regions.
  • Drive the development of the InnovAge In-Home Services business lines plans, programs, and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders in each region to develop annual and long-term clinical strategies, assess market opportunities, and devise implementation strategies throughout the organization.
  • Develops short- and long-term clinical objectives, quality standards and home care operational policies and procedures for all regions, in collaboration with the SVP HCSS, compliance,a nd other applicable members of leadership..
  • Refers, monitors, and consults with contracted Home Health and Home Care service providers.
  • (repetitive)Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of regional and national In Home Services progress, status, and outcomes.
  • Coordinates process improvement through collaboration with the leadership teams at a regional and national level to ensure the highest level of standardization.
  • (repetitive)Guides and directs clinical and operational leadership in states who use out-sourced In Home Services product lines.
  • Works in collaboration with the regional and national Quality Teams to guide clinical performance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with other executive leadership groups (i.e. HR, Finance, IT, PMO, etc.) to develop, implement, and enforce standard and consistent business and department practices and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Triad leadership at center and Regional levels to acquire appropriate resources needed to achieve strategic direction and results.
  • Responsibility in oversight and collaboration with the Comfort Care program within each region and nationally for standardization and implementation of operations and best practices to include monitoring and assessment of outcomes.
  • Plan, oversee, and execute standardized EMR on a regional and national level within In Home Services.
  • Manage standardized EMR program for training, national and regional use, user access, compliance, payroll, and reporting.
  • Functions as Project Manager within In Home Services regionally and nationally as needed.
  • Effectively provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to the In Home Services function.
  • Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing and training of In Home Services Directors, Managers, and other appropriate center, Regional, and National staff.
  • Provides feedback to the executive, regional and center-based leadership regarding performance of employees and In Home Services teams.
  • Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, teamwork, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
  • Assists in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assists in leading and guiding performance improvement in employee relations and operations.
  • Schedules, leads and reports on regularly scheduled In-Home Services leadership/management meetings, and attends departmental meetings as requested.
  • Hosts cross-site meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organizational standardization.
  • Appropriately communicates, involves, and updates regional and national operations, clinical, and physician leadership.

  • Oversight, trending, and actioning related to monthly company compliance audit outcomes by location and/or region.
  • Ensures the delivery of In Home Services complies with State and Federal rules and requirements on a regional and national level.
  • Ensures that all employees and support/contracted personnel and agencies are appropriately licensed or certified and meet all city, State, and Federal guidelines or regulations.
  • Maintains compliance in regards to licensing, accreditation and certification requirements for In-Home Services on a state, regional and national level.
  • Ensures adherence to and assists in the achievement of clinical performance outcomes and measurements utilizing collaboration with a focus on a commitment to performance improvement and utilization of best practices.
  • Accountable for national clinical outcomes and performance of the In Home Services business line.
  • Monitors and evaluates the results of programmatic goals against established objectives, quality assurance/service standards and budget/other financial criteria, and reports and submits performance plans as indicated to the SVP HCSS..
  • Supports the development process, creates logical workflows and job aides, applies response consistency and ensures deadlines and quality standards are met to establish standardization throughout the enterprise
  • Execution of education for internal teams and external agencies related to InnovAge PACE/LIFE systems, goals, operations, compliance, and EMR
  • Primary driver within State and Federal surveys and audits as related to In Home Services.
  • Oversight, influence, and impact of In Home Services Participant Satisfaction outcomes.
  • Responsibility for developing, updating, maintaining, and monitoring all In Home Service Policies and Procedures in partnership with SVP HCSS.
  • Creation, implementation, and execution of an ongoing audit platform/tool to assist in monitoring and maintenance of In Home Services best practices and outcomes.

  • Assists with identification, integration, and development of In-Home Services for acquisitions and De Novo sites.
  • Evaluates overall effectiveness of the national, regional, and local In Home Services programs and implements change and quality improvements as needed.

  • Develops and implements new programs and tools to meet the changing environment for In Home Services participants in all regions with a focus on innovation and financial stewardship

REQUIRED

Education

  • Degree and active, in good standing, license as Registered Nurse (RN) or Physical Therapist (PT)


Work Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience in Home Healthcare Services. Can this be 10?
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of Home Healthcare Services including applicable federal/state laws and regulations, in addition to a firm understanding of reimbursement and regulatory issues.
  • Strong management skills and a minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive management experience
  • Multi-site and/or multi-state oversight experience
  • Superior business development, operations management, and leadership skills in addition to demonstrated success in revenue growth, and development and execution of market planning required.

PREFERRED

Education
  • Master's degree in business administration, health administration, a related field from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a home care executive role in addition to acquisition experience preferred.

Physical Demands /Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, or clinical setting, and use standard office equipment, including a computer, and medical equipment; vision (close distance, long distance, depth and peripheral) to assess emergency situations, including medical incidents and to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Depending on assignment, standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required, and travel to visit various cultural, physical, behavioral and environmental settings may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office and medical equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals on a case-by-case basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Employees primarily work in an office environment with moderate noise levels and fluctuating indoor temperatures. Employees may work outdoors and are occasionally exposed to loud noise levels and cold and/or hot temperatures. Incumbents may be exposed to blood and body fluids while working in a Center. Employees may interact with members of the public or with staff under emotionally stressful conditions while interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

STRESS FACTORS

May require working under stressful conditions with pressure to meet scheduled deadlines. There may be distractions such as phone calls, work interruptions, and communication from co-workers and participants with the need to respond and intervene appropriately to multiple interruptions.
