Vice President of Engineering

Civil Engineering

Full Time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the Civil Engineering Department,

ensuring that all projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This role requires

a senior-level engineering professional who provides strategic and technical oversight, develops client

relationships, and supports team growth. The position combines leadership, project management, and hands

on engineering to drive Menadier Engineering's success and strategic expansion in the civil engineering market.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused

environment.
Oversee project budgets, schedules, and profitability, ensuring timely and high-quality project

completion.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary contact for engineering

matters and ensuring client satisfaction.
Prepare workload forecasts and staffing plans, balancing resources to meet project demands.
Manage work-in-progress, ensure accurate client billing, and oversee accounts receivable and

collection efforts for timely payments.
Develop and review engineering agreements, scopes of work, and budgets for projects within the

department.
Ensure regulatory compliance on all projects, overseeing environmental standards, permitting, and

adherence to local, state, and federal guidelines.
Cultivate and expand client relationships, identifying new business and market opportunities to grow

the firm's presence and client base.
Analyze project data (e.g., reports, maps, blueprints, soil composition, hydrological characteristics) to

inform project planning, stormwater and drainage design, and traffic engineering solutions.
Direct, supervise, and evaluate the activities of engineers and project teams, promoting adherence to

quality standards.
Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, schedules, environmental impact studies, and

designs for a variety of projects.
Attend client meetings and governing agency meetings, which may occur during business hours or

occasionally in the evening.
Visit construction sites to monitor progress and ensure adherence to contract documents.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including architects and geotechnical and MEP engineers,

to deliver cohesive project designs.
Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software for technical documentation and project

design.
Implement and maintain quality control measures for project management and team deliverables.
Support recruiting efforts and assist in growing the engineering team as the company expands.
Mentor and develop junior engineers, encouraging professional development and skill-building within

the team.
Other duties as assigned by manager or designee.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/EXPERTISE
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (required).
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida (required).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or

management role.
Strong expertise in stormwater and drainage design, utility infrastructure planning and design, and

traffic engineering, including traffic impact analysis and roadway design.
Extensive experience with permitting processes, with the ability to navigate local, state, and federal

regulations for timely project approvals.
Proven track record in managing project budgets, schedules, and engineering teams to achieve

successful outcomes.
Proficiency with engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other tools related to

stormwater, drainage, and traffic engineering.
Excellent analytical skills for interpreting technical data, project reports, and design specifications.
Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to lead client meetings and clearly present project

plans.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, some physical demands are required. The

individual in this position will be frequently engaged in activities that require body mobility in order to perform

such as: lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds, moving about in the workplace, and operating some office

equipment. The individual in this position must also be capable of maintaining regular attendance, working on

site, following instructions, understanding workplace materials, and communicating with others. Reasonable
