Location: San Francisco, CA 94112

Description:

About Adaptive Security Adaptive is a fast-growing cybersecurity company built for the AI era, founded by serial entrepreneurs Brian Long and Andrew Jones-creators of TapCommerce (acquired by Twitter) and Attentive ($500M+ revenue, Forbes Cloud 100, Deloitte Fast 500, 1k+ Employees, $7B+ valuation).

Our mission is to stop AI-powered cyberattacks-deepfake personas, real-time voice phishing, GenAI email threats, SMS phishing, and more. We're backed by top-tier investors, and our customers already include global banks, tech giants, and healthcare leaders.

Our flagship products-Adaptive Phishing and Adaptive Training-simulate advanced AI-driven attacks and train teams to stay ahead of evolving threats. And we're just getting started: our technical team is building toward an ambitious product roadmap to defend against tomorrow's AI-powered risks.

The Role: Build the Finance Org We're looking for a sharp, strategic, and execution-focused VP of Finance to build Adaptive's finance function from the ground up. Based in our San Francisco office and reporting directly to the CEO, you'll play a critical leadership role in helping us scale responsibly and intelligently-driving financial strategy, forecasting, fundraising, planning, and control.

You'll partner closely with the CEO, executive team, and board to guide Adaptive through rapid growth, new product launches, and future funding milestones. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the trajectory of a category-defining cybersecurity company as we scale toward $100M+ in ARR and beyond.

What You'll Do
  • Build Adaptive's finance organization from scratch-own FP&A, strategic planning, budgeting, and investor reporting
  • Partner with leadership across Sales, Product, and Marketing to align financial strategy with growth and GTM execution
  • Lead board-level financial reporting and shape strategic conversations with top-tier investors
  • Oversee and refine forecasting models to support rapid growth, hiring, and international expansion
  • Develop key company metrics and dashboards to drive visibility and data-driven decision-making across the business
  • Support future fundraising efforts, from scenario modeling to diligence prep to storytelling
  • Implement scalable systems and processes that evolve with the business-from expense management to revenue recognition
  • Own all compliance and risk-related financial responsibilities, including audit, tax, legal coordination, and vendor management

Who You Are
  • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in finance roles, including leadership at a high-growth B2B SaaS company
  • Startup DNA-experience building the finance function from early-stage through scale
  • Deep understanding of SaaS metrics, business models, revenue recognition, and operational finance
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to design and optimize complex financial models
  • Strong communication skills-you can translate numbers into narratives for both the exec team and board
  • Experienced in partnering with GTM, Product, and Ops leaders to align financial strategy with company goals
  • High integrity, low ego, and thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Must be based in San Francisco-this is an in-office leadership role

What We Offer
  • A leadership seat at one of the most innovative AI cybersecurity companies in the world
  • Equity in a high-upside, venture-backed business led by repeat founders
  • Direct partnership with seasoned entrepreneurs and access to top-tier investors
  • Premium healthcare and wellness benefits
  • A team culture that moves fast, builds with urgency, and has fun doing it
