Job Duties:
  • Strategic Planning: Developing and executing operational strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives while ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Operational Oversight: Managing daily operations related to transportation, warehousing, and inventory management, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness while focusing on maintaining high safety standards. For instance, implementing automated inventory systems can reduce human error and enhance safety.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring teams in the supply chain to foster a high-performance culture and ensure staff are well-trained and motivated, emphasizing the importance of essential skills such as forecasting knowledge, ERP expertise, and analytics, which are critical for anticipating supply chain disruptions and enhancing operational safety.
  • Budget Management: Overseeing the budget for operations, controlling costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management: Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure reliable and cost-effective solutions, including negotiating more favorable terms for transportation services that enhance delivery efficiency.
  • Adherence and Risk Oversight: Ensuring that transportation operations comply with legal and regulatory obligations while mitigating threats related to supply chain disruptions through effective risk oversight strategies, such as creating contingency plans for transit delays.
  • Performance Metrics: Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of supply chain operations and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement, thereby directly impacting safety and productivity in the warehouse environment


Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, business administration, or a related field is required. Candidates with a master's degree or MBA are preferred.
  • Experience: Extensive expertise in supply chain operations, with 10 years or more of experience and a proven track record of leadership roles.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to evaluate operational performance and identify areas for enhancement, which is essential for effective forecasting and risk oversight.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Systems: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Yard Management Systems (YMS), and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying information across various organizational levels and with external partners.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proficiency in negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers and service providers to secure favorable terms is preferred.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee multiple operational initiatives simultaneously.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with supply chain software and technologies, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), is essential in a tech-driven environment.
  • Leadership and Team Building: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams that can meet the organization's operational needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Knowledge and implementation of various continuous improvement programs leveraging a Sigma/Lean approach. Black Belt certification is preferred.
